We then visited Riambel, further south...which was EMPTY and un-commercialised...and I much preferredVisited January 2020Written January 24, 2020

- Xongitiko P3 contributionsA relaxing day on the beachThe beach has golden sand and turquoise shallow water . It is really great for families . We loved swimming in the shallow clear water with mild currents. The beach has a good vibe with both locals and tourists . The amnesties and restaurants are really great we went three time to flic and Flac during our stay and we enjoyed it al the time. On some days we had lunch at the restaurants along the beach , other days we would grab something from the dood trucks. I recommend it for a relaxing day at the beach.Visited January 2020Traveled with familyWritten January 6, 2020
- Leslie JFlic En Flac6 contributionsCan be dirty and noisy and lots of litterI live in Flic-en-Flac and am well used to seeing the beach , however everyone seems to show just the 'nice' photographs and not mention much about weekends when a lot of local people come to the beach and leave a lot of litter and mess and often there are youngsters playing load music and drinking a lot of alchol. Yes the beaches are cleaned up afterwards but the fact that many Mauritian people come to the beach and cannot be bothered to even put their rubbish in the bin or take it home spoils the look of the environment and could deter tourists from coming back to Mauritius. The beach is a valuable asset to the island so everybody should help look after it and respect the beauty of it. I am sorry to say that it is not always teh caseVisited January 2020Written June 26, 2020
- Viranand R5 contributionsMauritius PearlThe proverbial Mauritian hospitality enchants anyone as usual. The strict sanitary control put up by mangement is reassuring. Of course counting on individual responsibility. The staff keeps their friendly touch with Dave giving you tat personal care and attention O have always cherished. - TheQuing22 contributionsBeautiful but not for swimmingWe went there after Lunch. There were many people on the beach, so we couldn't find a spot with a shadow so we moved to the meadow unter the trees as it was too hot to lay under the sun. Some imbiss with fast food and fresh juice were nearby. Many stones and corals when going in the water which was not deep at all. You could clearly see everything. Beautiful turquoise water!Visited December 2021Traveled with friendsWritten December 6, 2021
- VeijovaappuFinland5 contributionsNice beach, but all the corals are dead.Nice beach to relax and play with the sand and swim. Big trees close to the beach give nice shadow during the day. Do not bother to take mask and snorkel with you. There is nothing to see because everything is dead beneath the surface...Visited February 2020Traveled with familyWritten February 12, 2020
- Niclas SAachen, Germany8 contributionsOne of the nicest beaches in Mauritius! While we stayed in Flic en Flac we went there often for 1 or 2 hours in the afternoon/evening. Wasn't crowded. Beautiful sunset. Clear water. You can see lots of fish through the surface when you enter the water knee-deep. Great for snorkeling as well. Bring water shoes because of the stones and corals. Haven't seen any urchins there. You can have lots of different snacks from the food trucks there.Visited March 2022Traveled with friendsWritten March 25, 2022
- Yvonne OVictoria, Seychelles90 contributionsGreat place to relax and unwindGreat place to unwind and just relax. Enjoyed taking some time to breathe and just enjoy the scenery. Headed here to catch the sunset though it wasn’t as visible as I would have liked it to be cos of the clouds but still enjoyed the scenery. Great place to kick back and relax. There were shells on the beach so just be mindful so you don’t get hurt when walking over thoseVisited September 2022Traveled soloWritten September 10, 2022

It is very popular but there are places to find more secluded spots. The beach is clean, but there is rather a lot of dead coral and seaweed to navigate.Visited January 2023Written January 8, 2023

Very long quiet beach - lots of food vendors at where the car parks are at top of the beach.
Quite a few rocks etc underfoot which is main drawback. Water is very clear in the lagoon area at the top.

Beach views were amazing, beach shoes are needed in the water as there is coral, sea urchins etc. Sand is soft on upper beach however surface is rougher in water in some areas. Sea was warm & some trade people but never really bothered us.

Beautiful and long sandy beach to walk, sunbathing and to camping as well.
Lots of dead corals so you have to have sea-shoes to avoid getting hurt.

Flic en Flac beach is an excellent beach to kick back and gets lots of sun. Choose either the very beginning or the very end of the beach to gain more solitude. Some snorkelling, but coral is of very poor quality. Sea urchins are in the sand by the 1000s in this area, so do not walk into beach without wearing beach shoes with hard soles

It's very long beach so you can walk down until you find a spot that suits you, has a lovely sunset. Popular with locals without being overcrowded, plenty of bars and restaurants lining the road behind the beach. There is shade under trees behind the beach. It seemed clean to me and plenty of areas you can go in the sea. I thought it was a very nice beach.

Bonjour,

Escursioni a 15 minuti di auto dovresti andare al Casela World of Adventures i prezzi variano in base all'attrazione.
Posto magico senza dubbio.
Al ritorno però un tuffo a Le Morne Brabant lo dovete fare, trovi parcheggio ed entri dalla spiaggia pubblica, la montagna Le Morne ti toglie il fiato.
Buon Viaggio....

I visited in Oct.2018 ,as it was the best season to visit Mauritius ,from Dec.onward the rains start.and weather remains uncertain, So it is not easy to say you should cancel the trip, weather may or may not be pleasant during your trip, if one or two days out of 14 days visit goes waste due to bad weather or rains even than it would not be a bad trip.but your itinerary of spoiled days would definitely be affected.rest is your luck.

Are there any local restaurants or bars near to La Pirogue hotel ??
Laura G
7 contributions
Yes, there are a few close to the resort side, however further down into the main part of Flic en Flac there are many.
Can walk down or grab a bus- PS- you can flag buses down even outside the bus stops.just like you do the taxis.
The Chinese- you will know which one is the second best Chinese on the island (per locals). The street vendors on the edge of the beach are usually of good quality and nice prices- things are cooked fresh to order so can take a while.
Don’t have Italian unless dining in the resorts/ hotels. Even locals go to the hotels if they want Italian.

It's better to have cash with you. Exchange your currency. Use Mauritian Rupees. You can exchange at the airport.

Hi all, I’m exploring Flic En Flac as a destination at the moment for anniversary and 40th bday trip. We’re not foody people and just want a good beach to relax for a week. Debating hotel with HB or Air BnB. If we Air BnB, what are food options in the area and do you advise we rent a car? Thanks in advance :-)

There are plenty of restaurants and cafes in flicenflac. Taxis are expensive when they see tourist be careful. If you are confident hire a car as it willl be easy to explore and there are some lovely beaches where you can swim and places of interest to visit.Enjoy your holiday
Salve, dovrei partire ad agosto per Mauritius e vorrei una struttura pulita, in cui la spiaggia è la cosa principale, insieme al mare. Una vacanza prettamente basata su quello. Il periodo è sbagliato per questa zona?
