We signed up for a Bako National Park and Wind Cave tour at Paradesa Borneo, but then learned about their free Kuching town walking tour at 4 pm! We joined Ayra, our amazing guide, for an hour. Even though we'd explored much of the city already, Ayra's historical insights and genuine personality made all the difference. The walking tour was fantastic! Bravo Ayra, thank you! 🎉👏 #Kuching #Borneo #WalkingTour #History #Travel #Guide #ParadesaBorneo #Malaysia

have just completed a 2 week cycle trip around Borneo. I had an amazing experience. We were brought to see so many different things, national parks, different type of villages, local markets etc etc. We really experienced Malaysian culture at its very best. A local guide was employed by this company at all of the different national parks 🏞️ etc that we visited. They employed the best local guides. Each & everyone one of them were so passionate about their work and very knowledgeable. We had fantastic Malaysian food 🥘 & got to taste every type of fruit possible as well as all the local cuisine. All amazing! We cycled through loads of different areas, each with something different to offer. We finished our cycle in accommodation beautifully positioned in front of a huge stretch of an unspoilt white sandy beach with crystal clear water & a gorgeous pool🏖️🏝️. On route we visited numerous different wildlife & even went to visit a baby green turtle 🐢. Estee (our cycle leader) was incredible 🙌. I have never experienced a better guide. She was incredibly knowledgeable, very professional, very kind & warm, very organised, very efficient, very accommodating & constantly checking to make sure everyone was alright & enjoying themselves. She organised an absolutely wonderful support crew. Lister her right hand man including all of the others! I would mention all their names but I don’t know how to spell all their names 😂. They all had her ethos 😍. Estee & her crew could not have done enough for us. Absolutely nothing was too much trouble for them & they appeared to work 16 hours a day but no matter what always smiling 😊! Thank you everyone. Borneo rocks 😍😍😍😍😍!

Taste of Sarawak: What a great food walking tour with Ren and Kelvin. We walked round all the local streets getting great insights into the local history and culture. They know all the best traditional family food spots for meal (best laksa I've had) plus maybe 8-10 traditional snacks and delicacies. The included sampan trip across the river to try the layered cake at the Kampong was an added bonus. Ren and Kelvin were so friendly and helpful - we didn't expect 2 guides just for the 2 of us! They told us their max group size is 8, to make sure everyone can hear them. Thoroughly recommend this tour which lasted just over 3 hours.

+ We really enjoyed our stay at the longhouse and experience more or less their lifestyle up close. The lounge/eating area was very nice and cozy. Every meal was prepared by the locals and very delicious. The hike upriver and the waterfall were very enjoyable. The residents of the longhouse who accompanied us on the hike are very friendly and savvy of the jungles - they showed us all sorts of things they are catching! The guide Omar is knowledgeable.

- There were mosquitoes nets in the room but they were broken - however there was barely mosquitoes in the room so it was ok. The sheets were stinky.

During the walks from the longhouse back to the boat there were a lot of mosquitoes in the gardens, and Omar insisted on leading the way but walked very very slowly and blocked our way. We felt very uncomfortable about this and most of the bites we scored were from this short walk. He should adjust his attitude and stop making the guests uncomfortable on purpose. Plus there was a giant scorpion in the bathroom..

Do note that the Longboat Riverine will most likely not happen due to low water (we did the trip in June and it was already way too low) unless you take the tour during the rainy season. The adjustment by the guide (alternative trek) was great although it might be a bit difficult if you are not a good trekker/hiker.

Dear Cathy, Thank you for sharing your detailed review with us. We're delighted you enjoyed your stay at the longhouse, the cozy lounge, delicious meals, and the upriver hike. We're glad our guides enriched your experience. Regarding the walk from the longhouse to the boat, we are sorry to hear about the discomfort you experienced due to the mosquitoes and the pace of the guide. Omar explained that his concern was for safety, especially on the downhill path, which is why he stayed in front of the group. We will advise him to adjust his pace to better suit our guests' preferences while maintaining safety and providing a more comfortable experience. Thank you for your observation of the broken mosquito nets and the sheets. We regularly replace the nets and bring laundered bedding up from Kuching. However, staying in a remote area among nature sometimes poses challenges. We will pay further attention to this to ensure a more comfortable stay for our future guests. Thank you for understanding about the Longboat Riverine. We're glad the alternative trek met your expectations. Your feedback helps us improve. Best regards, The Paradesa Borneo Team

The staff were incredibly responsive and friendly. They were patient with all my requests, and their professionalism truly impressed me. I was the only participant on a free walking tour, but guide Ayra still gave it her all and made the experience enjoyable. Highly recommend!

Booked 2 tours with Paradesa whilst in Kuching, both of which were well thought out, professionally run, informative and most enjoyable. The team and guides were punctual, communicated well in advance and knowledgeable. One tour was a half day Tribal Experience to the Sarawak Cultural Village and the other a half day Heritage & Kampung Bike Tour.

For both tours (Semenggoh+annah Rais longhouse and bako national park) the guide were knowledgeable and gave us interesting insights. Delilah took us through the semenggoh and the longhouse, we had the chance to see an orangutan despite the pouring rain in the morning, while we had lunch at the longhouse with real homemade traditional dishes made by super cute uncle and auntie who hosted us in their cosy home.
The following day we Jason took us to Baku national park, we were picked up at our hotel and we arrived at the jetty (suggestion to take a towel to dry your feet as you will have to walk in the water). Jason took through a path to the beach but also in other spots. At the park we saw: 5 snakes, 3 species of monkeys, the flying lemur and the bornean bearded pig. During the walk he explained the different plants growing in the rain forest. Overall a great experience that I strongly recommend if you pass by Kuching for a few days.

Thank you Victoria for recommending our 2 Days Semenggoh + Annah Rais longhouse and Bako National Park, to experience the best of wildlife and cultures in Sarawak Borneo. Both Delilah and Jason appreciate your recommendation.

It was a well guided tour with good commentary along the way. Bikes are decently maintained.

They were quite accommodating and also safety conscious with my two young kids (7,9) especially when riding out of the city centre. Saw places which one would normally just pass by.

We attended a tour with Kevin Lu as our tour guide and we were very pleased. Wherever we went, Kevin was always early and on time to pick us up. He was very friendly and was attentive to all the needs of our children. He provided us with water wherever we went and was very knowledgeable about Sarawak. He was very patient when explaining things and did his best to ensure that we were all well informed. He explained the culture and heritage well so much as the you ger kids could grasp what he was saying. He recommended good places with nice food, which did not disappoint. When we were leaving on our last day, he accompanied us all the way until we were done checking in our baggage. He gave us a parting gift of 4 cat figurines and 2 packets of sarawak laksa flavoured potato chips. We enjoyed this trip very much, Kevin is a great tour guide whom we would definitely recommend to others.

Family of five (my father, my wife and two kids aged 9 and 7) had an excellent tour to Semenggoh for the orangutans in the morning followed by lunch at the Annah Rais Longhouse.

Our guide Farhah was fantastic, really knowledgeable about both the orangutans and the longhouse, and made it interesting for us all. The kids particularly enjoyed learning the orangutans’ names and playing blowpipe darts after lunch!

We were very lucky to see 14 orangutans, including the demanding alpha male and a couple of mothers holding their babies, but sightings not always guaranteed. Farhah’s
knowledge made the experience many times greater than it would’ve been travelling without a guide.

The tour and food in the longhouse was superb. Farhah had so much knowledge to share about everything from the history of the longhouse to the flora and fauna all around. Thank you to our lunch hosts.

Also a big thank you to our driver, sorry we didn’t catch his name!

We can’t wait to come back to Kuching in the future and we will happily use Paradesa again!
