The indoor exhibits were rather pedestrian, some nice displays but overall marred by poor lighting, excessive text & outdated displays.

We did have fun checking the vintage car displays and rail heritage display outside the main building. The biggest will be the adjacent park with close to a dozen authentic traditional houses of different types.

Good museum to learn about Sabah's history. They were supposed to have a video or short movie there but the room was closed. The whale on display is huge and a highlight. I liked the history section but they also had ceramics, clothing, ancient history. The Islamic Museum was disappointing and only worth 10 minutes inside. The train exhibit was good to see also.

Visiting museums can sometimes be an odd inspiring experience. But of course, there are exceptions to the rule. I did not find a way to be bored as I felt that the Sabah museum was decent and full of curiosity. It is easy accessible from town via a 15 minutes taxi ride. The venue was clean with functioning AC's. Most displays were factual, legitimate and exactly highlighted those points of merit which provided a better historical read. It would be a valuable 1 - 2 hours spent here to learn on Sabah's culture which is the fruit of a milkshake of civilizations and to understand the substantiated narrative of events that occurred within this country. It would be best to discover for yourself, rather than browsing it through Wikipedia.

I enjoyed the museum. It was a good introduction to Sabah's history and was easy to walk around in air conditioned comfort. It was handy having a guide with us who gave us a lot of details and showed us the cultural village outside in the grounds and the old steam engine.

This is a nice museum to learn about Sabah. It is used by visitors, couples with small children and school groups. It is well visited. Make it one of your stops while in Sabah. There is a museum shop so you will be able to pick up any gift item while there. You can also get something to drink and ice cream while there.

The museum has a main building, which has air conditioning and has a range of collections and stuffed animals that you can see. Outside, you can walk around the grounds and stroll around the culture village. We watched some of the locals fish in the pond too which was nice. There are shops in some of the huts where you can buy souvenirs if you want too, but there is no pressure too. The buildings were nice to see and go in, especially as they are traditionally made out of natural resources. There is plenty of parking too.

Fairly typical small museum for a state. There is a decent variety of exhibits. In the grounds surrounding the museum, there is a cultural village display and botanical garden that is well worth walking round.

The museum is made up of a large number of buildings spread around. The main building contains the history of Sabah and the huge whale skeleton. There's also a small train museum, an area where the houses of the different tribes of Sabah is on display, a park, Islamic museum and some others. Definitely need to spend a whole day just to explore the whole place. Only downside is some of the displays need better upkeep.

We wanted to learn more of the history of Sabah and spent nearly 2hrs looking around the museum. While some of the attractions have no explaination in English, many do and I think many of the newer exhibitors have English descriptions. There are different sections to the museum, from historical fashion, rice farming, head hunting, natural science and even a cave exhibit where coffins are placed and where hunters collected birds nests - for bird's nest soup. That exhibit was particularly well done so was the history of Head Hunting in the region.

We are very glad we went - it was very informative and enjoyable.
