Worth the work to get there. Be sure to stay awhile.

I could lay on the lawn and listen to the Gibbons until the end of time. This place is a trick to get to and we booked through Sticky Rice which I'd recommend. They took the... read more

I could lay on the lawn and listen to the Gibbons until the end of time. This place is a trick to get to and we booked through Sticky Rice which I'd recommend. They took the hassle out of getting here and having our own guide was worth it. The trouble to get there made it all the more worthwhile.... More

A difficult place to contact via email. In the end we booked through Sticky Rice who were fantastic! The forest is very unique, unfortunately representing a shrinking environment for its inhabitants. We saw numerous monkeys, birdlife pigs, insects and snakes. We were very lucky enough to see an Orangutan on our last day (they had been pretty elusive during the previous... More

This is an area of undisturbed lowland dipterocarp forest, something that is becoming increasingly rare. It is the site of intensive research activities, and some of our best knowledge of tropical rain forests comes from here. Visitor facilities are limited, although there is a self-guided nature trail and a number of wlaks.

This is the best rainforest i have ever seen and I have seen quite a lot. It is just amazing and great for wildlife watching! Despite what the lonely planet writes i have to say we had great guides hired from the research center which spotted a lot of animals and explained us a lot as well. specially if you... More

Danum valley is truly a special place, though it's a challenging environment, and not an easy place to get to. Despite that, it's well worth the investment in time and money and hardship to experience the wonders of the some of the last remaining untouched low-land jungle in Sabah.

Wonderful place to stay at. Maybe even a bit to luxurious. But overall really nice. Very good accomodation en really friendly and helpfull staff. Our guide Ali took us on some very nice hikes and spotted some orang oetangs and various other wild life. The eyes these guides have for spotting the wild life, unbeleivable!

Fantastic resort, excellent chalets with fantastic view to the river. Very nice jungle walks and a good buffet. The only miss was the truck used for the night safari, a noisy old thing, that must have scared all wildlife for miles, at least we didn't see anything, besides a few squirrels.

Danum Valley is one of the last remnants of undisturbed primary jungle in Borneo. And it truly is beautiful. Look in any direction from the rope bridges which have been built across the nearby river and the view is one of film. The wildlife is also spectacular. Danum valley is sadly one of the last places in Borneo where you... More

We just got back from the Danum Valley Field Center(DVFC) - three days spent trekking and getting lost in the forest! The scientists working at the center suggest to bring a GPS when walking the trails! Of course, one should go and visit the area and spend two, three four nights there, walking through this primary forest and trying to... More
