Visited the Gold museum with my family members from KL and Singapore. This museum located at the heart of Georgetown, Bishop Street, Penang, surrounded by famous heritage spots, like Temple of God of Mercy, St.George's Church, easy accessible.
At first, we felt that the entry fees is at high side, RM50 for foreigner and RM30 for Malaysian, but after the tour, it is just worth the value, you will never regretted! The guided tour is very informative and professionally conducted, a lot of interesting gold information that we really appreciate. Walking in the museum is like walking into a mining cave, with a session for gold panning to find gold in a stream of water. Not mentioning "The Live Pour", where we been presented a live demo for process of melting silver and pour into a molt for making into bar shape. You just have to see it yourselves and feel it!
The gold and sliver collection displayed are amazing and unique. We have an opportunity to touch and hold on 30kg big silver bar and 50kg Gold bar in brick form. Sorry, you can't carry away that, not only been too heavy also due to the security... :-)
At the end of tour, my nephew from KL bought a 5g gold bar which she found cheaper compare to the market and more important is that it is GST exempted.

I felt cheated. Came in, Bought tickets told to wait 10 minutes. Went in and they straight away guided us through until the pouring demonstration which was only like a 5 minute show with no interesting points. After that they ushered us out to the shopping section.
I don't think they qualify to be called a museum. RM28 and u get a RM20 voucher for purchases over RM200.
I felt like I was paying RM20 for the voucher and RM8 is the price for the 5 minute "museum".
TERRIBLE!

setup around the heritage trails, one would thought that this was suppose to be a museum as it indicated but end up its only a newly setup gold gallery with simple 3d art and some gold molding show. They charge very expensively and halfway through the tour, we regreted for every penny we spend over there.
As far as I know, there wasn't even a gold mine in Penang or northern peninsula Malaysia, so why is there a gold museum in the first place? The premises is just a buff to earn money from the tourist.

a very expensive commercial gallery with its purpose to earn your money by showcasing cheap 3d art for kids to play around and take photos in a mimic gold tunnel. shouldn't be here in the first place.....
Their only attraction is molding gold in front of you....seriously?! I pay thirty buck for this ???!!! and letting you touch a piece of 50kg gold(so they say)...
pls dun let this place ruined your visit in PG, there's more to be explore around the heritage site instead of this newly setup commercial showroom

Don't fall into the trap by its name, it is NOT a museum, it is a Place for kids like 3D studio, not adult. Not worth for a single penny.

Went in with zero expectations but we desperately needed to get out of the sun so we decided to give it a try since it said "#1 attraction on tripadvisor"(?). First, the price was ridiculously expensive. Then we walked through the museum which included digging for gold and a live demonstration of making a gold bar - except they used silver... But apparently the process is the same. Bizarre and strange. There are many better places to see in Georgetown. But: they had great air-conditioning!

A lot of advertising in the area and it caught our attention. But nothing to see here, a complete ripoff and tourist trap. We paid for a guide but once we got inside nobody showed up to guide us. The show was just a waste of time, we couldn't hear anything the guides said and they were clearly unprofessional, did not know what the guides were doing at all. After the presentation of moulding gold, its the end of everything and there was a gallery of gold products for tourists to buy.

This premises caught our attention as it was setup beside a Public bank and claim to be a museum. Intrigued, we pay to enter but only get to see some gimmick 3d art work of gold tunnel, poster and a few gold merchandise. They main attraction of the place is the gold molding demostration and to let u touch a big bullion of gold like it was such a big deal. As far as I am concern, there wasnt even a gold mine in Penang. And you know what, the main purpose of them setting up such a so called museum was to trick the tourist like us to purchase their gold merchandise and product, What a dishonest establisment!
