Come Home to Historic Splendour

'ONE OF 10 GREATEST MANSIONS IN THE WORLD' LONELY PLANET 2011

A Grand Mansion conceived and constructed by a Grand Man; an eminent edifice which History calls Home; a peerless representation of the Paradigm Chinese Courtyard House – the Cheong Fatt Tze “Blue” Mansion has been perfectly poised for over a century on firm foundations of architectural, cultural and historic superlatives.

Essentially an ‘heirloom with rooms’, today, the Mansion readily bequeaths its charms to visitors who are able to indulge in Exclusive Heritage Homestays; **Guided Tours; and Tailored Functions on its premises. Reputedly the favourite home of the “Last Mandarin and First Capitalist of China”, the Mansion is undoubtedly the favourite home of George Town.

This was once the house of Kapitan CHEONG Fatt Tze, but unfortunately they had converted most area into a hotel and restaurant which doesn't allow access to the public. For a sixteen ringgit paid one could only see a few rooms and an empty courtyard. Well the guide did their best to narrate the history but overall speaking I found... More

While the place has its history and well narrated during the house tour... But there is not much to see or view... Of the 45 mins tour - you will be standing at two places listening to the guide for almost 20 mins each... The side courtyards has restricted entries and cannot be viewed... So visit only when you have... More

If you want to visit The Blue Mansion, you will need to have to book at a certain time. This is because everyday there are 3 different slots in which you need to book to have a tour. And without booking, you can't enter or look around the place at all. Good Luck

Not really that interesting. A lot of areas are closed up for visitors. Only get to see the front portion of the house and there are not really that much to look or enough information to feel the place except thats it really old house which is being restored.

We visited this mansion on a Wednesday morning and paid a fee of RM17 per pax to join in the tour at 11 am. The mansion itself looked beautiful and well-kept, and clearly the restoration works have been very carefully done. Also definitely proud that it has been included in the list of the 10 great mansions of the world... More

This attraction is well worth the price of the admission ticket. I enjoyed the stories told by the tour guide.

This mansion collects a small entrance fee and is definitely worth it. They only accept visitors 3 times a day so you better check out the website before you go. The tour is conducted by a knowledgable English speaking guide so you will learn a lot about the house, Cheong Fatt Tze and his family. It is a great cultural... More

A really nice spot, spectactularly restored and maintained by people who clearly care about preserving culture. Came for the guided tour, which again was led by a chap with a wealth of knowledge on the house and the stories life of its former occupants
