I was hoping to learn some techniques to incorporate Malaysian cuisine into my repertoire. Pearly didn't disappoint. She really sets the bar super high for other cooking classes. The class starts off with a trip to the local market, which is like walking around with a local celebrity, by the way. She explains all the ingredients and gives wonderful cultural... More

An inspiring day with Pearly learning the unique style of Nyonya cooking, the most delicious cuisine on the planet. My partner and I would easily do it all over again. Thanks Pearly

My husband and I loved spending the day with Pearly. She picked us up from our hotel and we met up with some fellow learners at the Pulau Tikus market that had been driven there by Pearly's husband Chandra. We spent about an hour or so wandering around the stalls and it was great to see Pearly interact with the... More

Lovely guided walk through to the Pulau Tikus wet market, and tasting the old style freshly made putuh mayam and mi jian kueh. Pearly knows most of the stall owners, and they were happy to showcase their produce. The cooking lesson was really fun and Pearly taught us to make 3 tasty local dishes from scratch, with fresh ingredients from... More

This cooking class is a must do when visiting Penang.we had a wonderful visit to the vege market and Pearly is so full of knowledge from her grandmother and family as to why it is so important to have the different food items in your diet. The herbs and spices we learnt about and tasted was very interesting . We... More

Pearly is very particular about the process that goes into food preparation, and these are live-long skills that I believe every wanabe-cook should learn. I'm really touched by her sincerity and the professionalism with which she conducts her class. Her husband is a really cool guide as well and shows a lot of concern for your well-being. This is my... Dear Carol, I am very pleased you loved the class. Your enthusiasm keeps me going. Attempting a full day class all by yourself. It shows you are serious to learn the traditional Bak Chang. It took you some time but you got through. I am proud of you and my day was complete when you SMILE! More

I cannot recommend a cooking class with Pearly high enough. The tour of the wet market was brilliant and really worthwhile as there were lots of ingredients that I'd never even heard of. Sampling the street food was another thing that was great to have a local's perspective on the foods. The cooking itself was great- everything was ready to... More
