Nazlina's cooking classes are held at Nazlina Spice Station daily except on Sundays. The market tour covers both Campbell Street market and Chow Rasta market. Nazlina conducts the cooking classes while her partner Peter conducts the market tour. As market tour is only available in the morning, people who opt for the afternoon class may join the morning tour and then come later for the afternoon cooking session. Please wear comfortable clothing and footwear. Hats and sunglasses are recommended. Bring umbrellas or water proof jackets if it rains. During reservation, please advise any dietary requirements or allergy if applicable. Rate is RM225.00 Per person (AM class) and RM180.00 per person for the afternoon class (without breakfast or market tour). Please note that only clients who paid for the experience are allowed to join the market tour and the cooking class to be fair to other full paying clients. Nazlina has been featured in New York Times' 36 Hours in Penang, on the BBC good food channel, as well as several in-flight magazines. She built the business single-handedly, starting with renting out garden spaces to hold her classes and now the proud owner of a 100 year old shophouse in the heart of the heritage zone in George Town. All equipment in the cooking area are of the best quality such as German made stainless steel pots, steamers, pans and woks. Knives are sharpened by our local knife sharpener at the market. Partners or friends who wish to join for breakfast as well as the market tour and later for lunch that cooking class students made can do so at an additional cost of RM50 per person. These options can be requested in advance when you make your reservation. Deadline for booking is at 8pm before the day, or 12 noon for the afternoon class. We would appreciate if you observe this deadline and book ahead so that it is easier for us to plan the logistics. Thank you.

Naz is a great cook and instructor. She's also fun to be with. She shares her country's culture in a conversational, fast-paced, easy-to-relate-to way. The class area is spacious and breezy. The prep area has a long table where you can sit or stand while you learn about the ingredients and chop them up. The cooking area has plenty of... More

Thanks so much to Nazlina & Peter I had an absolute ball. I am an avid foodie and when the opportunity to travel to Penang for a few days arose unexpectedly, I knew the one thing I wanted to do was get to grips with as much of the food culture as possible. The trip to the market was a... More

We joined the cooking class in April 2016. The class consisted two parts. The first part was a tour to the local market. Second part was the cooking class. The tour was guided by a Dutch telling us about Asian food and its history. Unfortunately, about 1/3 of the info he gave was misleading, incomplete or even wrong. We are... More

Dear yuenhungh, thanks for taking precious time to write a review about my cooking class. We are really gravely concerned when you said that info given during the market tour were not accurate. If that was the case, it would have been helpful to clearly specify which facts were wrong. You also took 2 months to write the review. I... More

I am not the greatest cook but with Nazlinas help we were able to create the most amazing meal! I thoroughly recommend doing this course, I just wish we could have booked earlier as the advice on where to eat and what to try was invaluable along with the tasting with Peter at the market. I was happily surprised by... More

Having just spent the morning with Nazlina and Peter I felt I should write a review about how excellent the cooking class was. From the roti breakfast to the market tour Peter was an excellent and knowledgeable guide ensuring we got to try lots of different fruits and delicacies in the market. The rest of the morning was spent cooking... More

we met up with Peter and Nazlina early in the morning and after a delicious breakfast embarked on a tour of the markets, discovering hidden gems of tasty snacks and different fruits (have to say am now hooked on Jack Fruit - it's amazing) back at the school we made a curry, some pickles and a dessert. it was great... We have been trying to do cooking courses in all the countries we've been to, so we're delighted to find Nazlina's place a few mins from our hostel, House of Journey. After our yummy roti canai breakfast, the market tour with Peter was great, we got to try new things and learn a lot more about the ingredients on offer.... More

My friend and I really enjoyed doing a cooking class with Nazlina on our final day in lovely George town. Nazlina was really friendly and we enjoyed hearing her anecdotes and interesting facts about Malay food and culture. Nazlina was very accommodating to dietary needs and and encouraged everyone to get stuck into the cooking as much as possible. We... More

Had a great and informative time at the food markets with Peter and cooking with Nazlina. there were 10 of us, mostly foodies, and she did a great job of instructing our large group! We cooked up four of the most popular Malay dishes, and at the end of the course I felt we all had a good understading of... More
