Nazlina's cooking classes are held at Nazlina Spice Station daily except on...

Nazlina's cooking classes are held at Nazlina Spice Station daily except on Sundays. The market tour covers both Campbell Street market and Chow Rasta market. Nazlina conducts the cooking classes while her partner Peter conducts the market tour. As market tour is only available in the morning, people who opt for the afternoon class may join the morning tour and then come later for the afternoon cooking session. Please wear comfortable clothing and footwear. Hats and sunglasses are recommended. Bring umbrellas or water proof jackets if it rains. During reservation, please advise any dietary requirements or allergy if applicable. Rate is RM225.00 Per person (AM class) and RM180.00 per person for the afternoon class (without breakfast or market tour). Please note that only clients who paid for the experience are allowed to join the market tour and the cooking class to be fair to other full paying clients. Nazlina has been featured in New York Times' 36 Hours in Penang, on the BBC good food channel, as well as several in-flight magazines. She built the business single-handedly, starting with renting out garden spaces to hold her classes and now the proud owner of a 100 year old shophouse in the heart of the heritage zone in George Town. All equipment in the cooking area are of the best quality such as German made stainless steel pots, steamers, pans and woks. Knives are sharpened by our local knife sharpener at the market. Partners or friends who wish to join for breakfast as well as the market tour and later for lunch that cooking class students made can do so at an additional cost of RM50 per person. These options can be requested in advance when you make your reservation. Deadline for booking is at 8pm before the day, or 12 noon for the afternoon class. We would appreciate if you observe this deadline and book ahead so that it is easier for us to plan the logistics. Thank you.

Highly recommended cooking class + market tour. We had a great morning exploring the area, local shops and trying some local food and spices. After this you help prepping the food and cooking your own meal, there were a few different dishes which were all delicious. Nazlina and her Dutch husband are very friendly and welcoming and make it a... More

We had a great morning. Our group of four joined four others on this day. We thought the tour around the markets was extremely informative and well presented. We were met with friendly smiles and offer of morning tea followed by a yummy breakfast. The cooking itself was both fun and interesting. I can’t cook and won’t pretend that I’m... More

After booking our cooking class 3 months in advance and paying, we were gicen the option to chose what dishes we would like to learn, great! Right?.... Nazlina changed the menu 2 weeks out and 2 of the dishes were changed. When questioned, she gave us the option to pay more money and do the afternoon cooking class too. We... More

Hi Sdrawde N, thanks for spending time to write your review. Even though I regret that you were unfortunate to get a taxi driver who could not read a map or even understand a clearly stated address, I have to give your comments a fair rebuttal. 1. You enquired on 21st May, and paid 50% deposit for 4 people on... More

Talk about immersive. Nazlina and Pietr were fantastic. We easily booked the class by email and arrived bright and early for the class. We had quite a big group but it never felt too much - enough room and well managed. Breakfast was included and we filled up loads while wandering the markets as Pietr gave us a guided tour... More

I was very keen to do a cooking class in Penang but was shocked at the prices (225MYR). However, I decided that it would hopefully be worth it. It was a promising start, a yummy breakfast and an introduction from a lovely Dutch guy. He took us on a wonderful tour of the markets and we tried and variety of... More

Hi roseemily1997, thank you for this valuable feedback. I would like to highlight what happened a couple of days ago in my class regarding 15 people in my class. First, all of you, minus 2 couples, booked only 2 days before the date. Out of the two couples, two people simply turned up! Second, all of you only confirmed to... More

Naz is a great cook and instructor. She's also fun to be with. She shares her country's culture in a conversational, fast-paced, easy-to-relate-to way. The class area is spacious and breezy. The prep area has a long table where you can sit or stand while you learn about the ingredients and chop them up. The cooking area has plenty of... More

Thanks so much to Nazlina & Peter I had an absolute ball. I am an avid foodie and when the opportunity to travel to Penang for a few days arose unexpectedly, I knew the one thing I wanted to do was get to grips with as much of the food culture as possible. The trip to the market was a... More
