Nice pace to feel the vibes of Kelantan. Visiting here makes me proud as I saw all the sellers are women. I am proud to see these amazing and strong women working hard to put food on the table

Recommended to visit this local market. Walked from the outdoor areas selling fruits to the center area selling veg on the 1st floor, dry goods on the 2nd floor and 3rd floor textiles and clothings. There is also an area for cooked food. The poultry and seafood stalls were close today, and so were most of the stalls. Not sure if it’s because of Hari Raya Haji on Monday.

Ventilation within the market was generally good and most stalls have fans on however as the day time temperature reached 33 degrees celsius hence can be quite hot while walking in the market.

Managed to buy some fruits to bring back to the hotel to eat.

The first thing i do whenever i visit this market is to eat breakfast. The food stalls above the market left me in daze because i had too many choice to do. But since last time i ate the Nasi Kerabu (the blueish colour rice) with Lada Solok and fried fish, this time i tried Mee Hoon Celup (soup noodles) with beef intestines. It was so delicious that i decided to buy another take away to eat for lunch.

On the other side of the building i bought several pieces of Tudung Bawal (hijab scarves) with beautiful fake diamonds. They are not cheap but the ones sold here offered a wide range of patterns. After some haggles, i bought 4 pieces with RM100.00. I picked a songket as a souvenir for a friend because we promised to wear songket together for our next oversea's rendezvous (i couldnt haggle much with the price - if you wanted a cheaper price for original Kelantanese songket, i recommend you to got to Wakaf Che Yeh's market)

Going down, i stopped to buy a few dozens of fish crackers in mini packets, serunding (i bought chicken, beef and fish serunding), Kelantanese dodol, and a few packets of cashew nuts.

On the ground floor of the market, my shopping bags turned heavier. I bought a few bottles of budu (I asked for the one made locally by the Kelantanese), a few bottles of pickles, several kilos of fresh fruits (mango, bidara and kuran), Kelantanese cakes (from taik itik, jala emas, buah tanjung, gula tarik, kuih peria) and Kelantanese dishes such as nasi tumpang and etak salai.

During this trip i made sure to get my stock of facial masker, bedak sejuk. Bedak sejuk is a local facial masker made of pounded rice the ones made by the Kelantanese are my favourite because they are purely rice and without preservative or chemical stuff. Now you know my secret to m great, pimpleless face. There are two types of bedak sejuk sold in Pasar Siti Khatijah. The white and yellow little beads. I used the ordinary white ones.

Last but not least, i stopped by at the Dayak Spirit for a special souvenir. Thanks to a travel blogger I found out about this place within the Pasar. The booth sells souvenirs related to the American Indian's tribe. Its Dream Catcher was one of the reasons the booth caught my attention. I usually bought a talisman for a trip for a memory and to add into my growing collection (I collect for its art/craft and not for its traditional uses) . Whats truly special about Dayak Spirit is that, the owner of the booth, Uncle Abu Antonio, hand-made them himself with chicken feathers. Trust me, they are made of good quality and cheaper than anything ive bought online or overseas.

If there is any indication - my wife was over tempte with

1) the variety of kelantan fresh food.
2) head scarf (tudung) which is cheap here with beatiful designs
3) cheap & beautiful textile & linen.

Outcome: we spent a lot & I mean to the extreme therefore our spending was limited.

This is a very interesting market to visit. Most of the stalls are managed by women. You can buy many local stuffs here from daily necessities, clothes, food, fruits etc. Interestingly, some of the things here are quite cheap. We even saw turtle eggs for sale. There's also local tobacco available, some facial pellets for smooth skin, keropok etc.
It's a one of the must-see places when in Kota Bharu

All visitors to kelantan must drop by to this colourful and busy market. An amazing find for me was the local sweets ranging from keropok, local snacks and local food ranging from curries to all types of rice. A bustling market run mainly by women folk - this is the center for the community. Go to the first floor to get your textiles like batik, caftan or songket etc

Wow - such a colourful experience! We came in the morning for a good look around then stayed lunch at one of the amazing food stalls upstairs. The produce and food are on the main floor then up the floors are clothes, materials, dry goods, etc, etc.

We had read in a guide book that men and women were not allowed to eat at common tables in the food court area but that was not true for locals or tourists in Oct 2017.

Undercover wet /dry and other market on 3 levels (10-6pm). Top level is batik, fabrics, clothing from Malaysia and Thailand, some souvenir t-shirts, head scarfs. Middle level is toys, homewares, costume jewelry and some souvenirs. Ground level is food, meats and fruits, vegetables goods - fish, meat, rice, spices and in the centre was mainly fruit and vegetable.

Walking distance from Grand Riverview Hotel (10mins). Spend maybe 2 hours if interested in buying local fruits and being interactive, otherwise 30 minutes. Plenty of kedai makan stores on the outside. Is not the market it once was. Shady respite from the heat or rain. Many stall holders moving to cheaper and more busy market places.
