Our experience with the mangrove boat tour was really incredible. We were picked up from our hotel and then the mini bus proceeded to pick up the other people on the tour and we went on our way to the starting point of the mangrove tour. We were approximately 10 adults and 2 little kids and we met our guide and boat driver for the day. We were each provided with glass water bottles (they do not want to use plastic which is a great initiative!) for the duration of the trip and were given some time to go the the toilets before starting. The tour took us to a bat cave, along the meandering mangrove, at times very close to the sea and we had a stop for lunch on the docks, surrounded by nature. We were at times going really slow, trying to spot some wildlife, and at other times pretty fast which were both exhilerating experiences. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and taught us about the different species living in the mangrove (bats, monkeys, eagles, snakes, etc...) and how humans impact their habitat and lifestyle and we loved the fact that this tour was not participating in the whole feeding experiences that are so problematic in the area. We were lucky enough to spot two dolphins which was quite unexpected and also the famous eagles, bats, macaques and king fishers. It was a great experience and I highly recommend booking with Dev's Adventure Tours, they put the emphasis on nature and will take you to the opposite way from the crowds to make sure you have a chance to spot some wildlife in a calm and serene athmosphere. You will come back from this experience with a lot of knowledge and a new appreciation for the fauna and flora of the mangrove. Don't forget sunscreen and hat/sunglasses!

Myself, my sister and cousin did a morning trip with Dev’s adventure tours. We had seen reviews on Tripadviser and when in Langkawi we stopped in at their office and picked the kayaking trip for first thing in the morning. To clarify I did this trip in 2019 and have always meant to leave a review as it was such an exceptional experience. The price was more than reasonable for the day, given that we were given water and a light lunch. We were picked up on time and we’re taken to the area where we met Jerome who was so friendly and explained what to expect and look out for when kayaking through the mangroves. We were particularly impressed by his (and the company’s) no plastic policy in the water, giving us reusable bottles of water to take and their understanding and concern for the wildlife and sustainability of the mangroves. We got into the kayaks and did a semi-leisurely kayak through the mangroves (you do need a good level of fitness to kayak for a few hours so be sensible when picking this as it’s not hugely difficult but does require some strength and stamina to navigate the kayak on your own). Jerome was so knowledgeable and fun and kept us really well informed throughout the trip, not only pointing out birds of prey and other wildlife (and snakes!!) to us but also explaining the challenges to sustainability the mangroves are facing. By being in the kayak so close to the water, we felt extremely close to nature and as it was first thing in the morning the mangroves were peaceful and quiet. Jerome was patient with us in the kayaks, going at a reasonable pace.
If I remember correctly, the kayaking trip is the most eco friendly way of exploring the mangroves, leaving the least footprint so if you are fit and well enough to do this please do. Please choose your tour operator carefully, Dev’s adventures seemed to be an extremely responsible company compared to others and it’s definitely worth going with them. I would highly recommend both Dev’s adventures and the kayaking experience with Jerome!

By far the most professional company on the Island. Very professional phone manner, on time pick-up, the tour guide was amazing, the morning kayaking was the highlight of my trip in Langkawi. Special shout out to Mandy, you were amazing!! <3

It's a big problem really. People who join this tour should be warned that waves can be strong when kayaking, and they need to have obtained some kayaking certificates before they can join the tour. Yet the company does not set any rules restricting people from joining the tour, and there is no warning.
I joined kayaking tours like this elsewhere but nowhere else the tour was like this one: I was kayaking in open river with waves occasionally pushing my kayak to the cliff, where waves were pretty strong. The guide (Mandy) had to take care of 11 people doing the kayak and the whole situation was scary.
It's just normal for people doing kayak to take photos. The guide should NEVER blame the people who are not kayaking well that they have taken a lot of pictures along the trip, as it's just normal to take photos.
The guide should also NOT say that the people who do not kayak well should join the boat. What kind of comments is the guide making????
When I was super exhausted sitting in the kayak and the waves were rocking my kayak, I was totally not able to move the kayak forward. Luckily another tour member came and helped my kayak, then he was using his biggest force to kayak and my kayak finally could move against the waves. To speak honestly, this should be the job of the kayaking guide Mandy, not him.
Yet I felt like Mandy wanted to stop him continue helping me kayak. She even said that I should not rely on him because it was unfair to his effort. She was not understanding and showing attention to my situation: I was just deadly exhausted when kayaking against the waves and needed help. She did not help me, and she just asked the person who pulled my kayak to stop helping me.
It was totally ridiculous. I was furious in fact when I heard her saying.
It's the company's duty to take care of the people who join the kayaking trip. If there are 11, at least TWO guides should go with us. One guide at the beginning of the team, one at the end making sure the last person who kayak could be safe.
It's the worst kayaking tour I have ever joined.
I kayaked in different places all over the world: Guam, Iriomote, Australia, the Philippines. I did SUP even (Stand-up Paddleboard). I'm rather experienced in fact, but the waves were really rather big and the whole teams were really speedy in kayaking. I was very upset during the whole journey.
I sincerely hope the tour company could consider my comments and the guide could be more helpful in helping people take photos.

I took this tour with my husband. Dev’s was willing to pick us up and drop us off at our Airbnb (Ranis Lodge) in Kg Nyior Chabang which is quite a ways away from Pantai Cenang and Kuah. Them willing to go that extra mile (literally) was very accommodating and made me feel very welcomed. For the tour itself, our guide Roy was very informative and passionate about making our trip a pleasant one. He made sure to keep up to date on the latest information and was very patient with each and everyone on the boat. It was fascinating to visit the geoforest park at this time of day, and we were even able to see some of the wildlife. I’m sure it certainly helped that there were less boats manoeuvring the waters at the time. I like that there is a strong focus on sustainability and not contributing to waste with this tour company, and will definitely come back for more soon.

We travelled as a family group of 9 including 3x teens and 2x 70 year olds on a sundowner cruise.
We had an excellent time. Everything was arranged directly with the company with communication via WhatsApp very easy and efficient. They picked us up from our hotel (Danna) at 3.30 ready to board at 4. We had the boat to ourselves.
Our guide (Zak) was brilliant. Very knowledgeable, informative and so good at spotting the wildlife. We saw black monkeys, lizards, otters, kites, sea eagles and loads of fish.
This company is eco-friendly - they don’t feed the eagles and they believe in sustainable tourism. This was a big reason we chose them and were so pleased we had. The floating restaurant had a fish rehabilitation centre where they’re helping to preserve endangered fish species. David gave us a talk on some of these fish and what they do to grow them before putting them back into the wild.
The boat trip itself was leisurely through the mangrove forest, under a cave then out into the open sea before stopping at a back for a swim. Then back along the beautiful coastline at speeds fast enough to satisfy the excitement-loving teens before heading for dinner. The dinner was delicious and we saw more eagles while eating.
It was a fantastic tour from start to finish. The best thing we’ve done on Langkawi. Would 100% recommend this tour and this tour company. Big shout out to Zak and the excellent driver. Thank you very much for a great experience.

We took 3 different tours from them: the evening walk in the jungle, the good morning Langkawi kayaking tour and the Langkawi Charm cooking course.
We did the evening walk one evening and the kayaking and cooking class the other evening. The walk in the jungle started around 17:00 and ended around 19:30. So you are not in the jungle after the dark. We saw a few monkeys and hornbills. Our guide Zack was cool. Each person gets their own bottled water (and they were reusable glass bottles which was great!). Our favorite probably was the kayaking in the mangroves. We took the earlier trip which they recommended if we wanted to do the other thing in the evening also. It was a good suggestion! The earlier trip was 3 hours but you have more time kayaking and the kayaking is in the smaller mangrove tunnels which was our favorite part. The longer one would’ve been 6 hours but most of it eatinf in the end as I understood. So, happy with out choice.
The cooking class is fairly new as I understood. We make some curry and salads, noodles, later we ate it. The hosts (a man and a woman, can’t remember their names unfortunately) were so great! They understood our humour and joked along with us. We didn’t get any recipes though.
All in all a great experience and would deffinitely recommend.

AMAZING EXPERIENCE!
Really top notch service from the word go. Emailed them to book and within minutes had a response. They provided me with all the information required the evening before, even giving me details of the driver that would collect me. On the day, the driver was early to pick me up. Like the rest of the team, he was extremely friendly and knowledgeable of the island giving me tips throughout. Once in the Geopark, the guide met us all. The actual kayaking was superb. We were taken through the mangroves, the guide telling us all about the local fauna, animals and birds. We were provided with wet bags and water. Kayaking in the middle of the mangroves was just so utterly beautiful and serene. We were 8 in total in the group + guide. The rest of fellow kayakers were all extremely nice and we all got like a house on fire. At the end of the kayaking, complimentary food is served in the floating restaurant.
Would I recommend and do a tour with them again? Most definitely yes.

We did a mangrove tour with Yan and our was a young lad (think his name was 'E') and it was amazing! We learned so much about the mangroves and the habitat , and had a great time.
Fully recommend this tour and a special mention to Yan - Yan is so knowledgeable and great tour guide....fabulous entertainer which made the tour very enjoyable.
Only part of the tour that fell below expectations was the lunch at the floating restaurant.

2 adults booked via our hotel ,The Danna
Cost was 360 MYR for the 2 of us.
Pick up was 3.30pm from hotel. They finally arrived at just past 4pm 🙄 because of a problem with another pick up.
Half hour drive to Dock & had to walk from drop off and the minibus could actually of dropped us at the Dock especially as we were so late and other passengers were waiting.
10 adults and 1 child on our boat, plus driver and guide.
Very fast ride, lots of twists and turns, stopped at a floating restaurant to see fish in captivity in dirty small pens, we both thought it looked like a really rundown dirty place, the toilets were on a scale of 1-10 a -1 🙄😒
Off we went again and through mangroves and out to sea, our guide showed us sights and told us lots of fascinating facts.
The ride was fast and we hadn't expected it to be quite like it was, I'm not good on boats usually but actually I was fine thank goodness 🙂
Our food stop was to our disappointment back at the floating restaurant with the -1 toliets 😱
Food wasn't up to much, fish, which was tasteless, chicken satay ,undercooked, water melon, coleslaw type salad & fried noodles. Jug of very week squash.
Really dirty container on table to get serviettes out of, just all together yuck.🤮🤔
Whilst we did enjoy the outing, we wouldn't recommend it to people simply because of the floating resturant 🤮😱
