One of the worth visiting attractions in Langkawi. You can see many interesting items such as copper pieces, crystal, porcelain, as well as weapons, musical instruments, Islamic art and paintings are displayed at this place. Quite a nice place for those who are visiting here for the first time.

A very nice collection of gift that were presented to our beloved ex Prime Minister Tun Mahathir Mohamed while he's in the office. But by the time of my visit, the aircond is not functioning at some area thus making the visit is kinda hot. A very nice place to visit.

We were on the way to Tanjung Rhu which lies at the north of Langkawi and en route we drop by to the Galeria Perdana.

From Kuah it will probably take you about 20 minutes to reach there, renting a car is very cheap during off season about RM50 in Langkawi (MAKE SURE YOU BARGAIN).

The entrance fee will cost RM 5 (Only about 1 Euro). And the Galeria Perdana is divided into three sections A,B,C with a spiral paths that will lead you up to each of those sections upper floor. I was quite amazed with the size of the gallery and the intricate design of the ceilings. Overall, if you merely, walking around and taking odd pictures here there a bit of selfie and We-fie; the whole trip will take you up to 20-30 minutes.

What is the Galeria all about?

Tun Dr. Mahathir. A true leader with great vision. People will have different interpretation of the Museum, In my humble opinion, the gifts are for all Malaysian and He wanted to share it with all us. For that reason, the entrance fee is bloody cheap and affordable to anyone. The gifts ranged from sculptures, vases, traditional artwork, cars etc from various countries all around the world (China, Africa, India, Arab Countries, Indonesia, etc). During his life time as the Prime Minister he had received those vast amount of gifts, if he had held the officer any longer; possibly they need a bigger Gallery.

Of course you cannot compare it to the Louvre Museum and please do not expect any Van Gogh Starry Night Painting. It is truly a reflection of years of hardworking, wisdom, humility and honesty as a leader.

Why four stars? Would be great if there was a section detailing about his life story and certain parts of gallery I felt was rather unkempt.

A must for all "True Malaysians". Non-Malaysian; come on its only 1 Euro and 20 minutes ride to get there, what do you have got to loose?

My favourite painting of him looking out of the window.

Thank You Tun For Everything

Very few tourists visiting Langkawi know about this place. You need to take a taxi or charter a car to come to this hidden diamond of Langkawi.

All the beautiful collections of Dr. Mahatir, the Prime Minister of Malaysia, are on display in the 3 excellent display halls. The architecture of these 3 halls is very distinctive.

This one museum will give you a vast idea about the past and present about the beautiful Malaysia. The country has received so much recognition from all around the world which you would be able to find out by the amount of precious gifts it received.
The transformation of developments in different sectors like machines , vehicles, transportation etc are beautifully projected by real cars and expensive set up.
If you want to utilize your time in the day time to avoid the scorching heat outside, this place could be considered alongside visiting Air Hangat.

I wish that this gallery could have more interactive videos or clips of Tun Mahathir's interviews, experience and stories. Right now its just witnessing gifts he collected and..basically thats it.

We had time to kill and we were nearby. The kid wasn’t feeling well, otherwise we would have rather gone to the durian Perangin waterfall. The gallery is very big but totally no one else was around. There were many pieces of artifacts and presents given to PM mahathir but I suppose most of these don’t mean very much to him personally, hence best displayed in a gallery like this. From Japan, Africa, etc etc. The only interesting ones are those with his younger face imprinted eg a vase! The aircon wasn’t working in areas, that’s where you teach your kids that hot air rises. The domes are quite exquisite I must say. Even the F1 racing car and other car models failed to lift their interest. We spent less than an hour there and left.

There are 9000 items that Mahathir received as gifts. Some standard stuff, some weird stuff. Very cheap entry fee.

It's a bit saddening to see that the collections here are not properly taken cared of. A few are with spider webs.

Some collections are without labels and/or difficult to understand the significance of the gifts.

The exterior of the venue look run down.

More effort should be taken to maintain the place.

Entrance for tourists are RM10 for adult, RM5 for kids.
