- MudcowFerrara, Italy337 contributionsGood aquarium, well presented.Pre-buy your tickets online and they are significantly cheaper. Overall this didn't actually feel much larger than KLCC Aquaria although it is apparently the largest in Malaysia. All the fish and animals appeared to be healthy. Having previously lived in the Falkland Islands it was lovely to see Rockhopper Penguins again. One real gripe was the series of shops that you have to go through at the end. Just perfect to turn well behaved children into monsters..... although the last shop had gin which helped. It would have been nice to have more information available on the exhibits, even if this was say QR codes to websites with more info. We visited twice. The first time we were there for 2-3 hours. The second visit was much shorter as it felt rather more crowded.Thank you so much for your kind words mudcow . We really appreciate you taking the time out to share your experience with us. We count ourselves lucky for guests like you. We look forward to get a visit from you again in the future!Written August 8, 2020This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited July 2020Written August 8, 2020
- MancJRGWarrington, United Kingdom159 contributionsMediocre aquariumSadly this venue is looking tired and in need of renovation. I'm sure it's a good activity for young families who can enjoy seeing the feeding times and spend an hour or so. I felt that entrance fee was over priced (RM46) and have visited much better aquariums in other countries.Dear MancJRG, we are devastated to hear you had such a bad experience with us. We try to maintain the highest standards of service, but clearly that’s not what happened here. We are really sorry to hear about your experience. We will take this as the opportunity to keep on improvising the best service for you in the future. - DenHaagTravellerKuala Lumpur, Malaysia161 contributionsOne of the best aquariums I’ve visitedOne of the best aquariums I’ve visited and I’ve been to quite a few. The “residents” are loved and cared for. The feeding sessions are fun. Not particularly expensive to go in and they give senior citizen discounts for 50 and over, so take your passport. Well worth a few hours of your time.Dear DenHaag Traveller, thank you so much for you kind words. We really appreciate your visit to our place. Me and my husband just visited Underwater World Langkawi, we did not had high hopes at first cause it looks simple from the outside, you know what I mean if you been to KLCC Aquarium. We paid RM36 for each(if I remember well) and it’ll be only RM10 for the local whose IC address is in Langkawi. When we entered, it was ok. When we reached the part where the penguins are, the visit started to get more exciting, it followed by more sea species and also big fishes! That excites me personally cause I love sea creatures! The most exciting part is we get to take photo with the very laidback Iguana and a curious white dove by just paying 10bucks. Overall it was worthy cause inside the Underwaterworld it is actually HUGE😊

Nice place to go with kids. For the first time we met with penguins and that was the main attraction of this place. But we expected more from here! Except the penguins other underwater sections were not that rich as we expected to be! Aquaria in KL is far far better than Langkawi’s Underwater World. And as they have penguins they should arrange for penguins show and show with other sea animals like seals and dolphins. More it was not fully satisfying comparing the amount of ticket price!

The enclosures are just way too small, I wish I hadn't visited but my partner likes this type of place but even he said the same thing. Seals and sharks just in tiny spaces, they shouldn't be there.
Way too many penguins in the space with not enough water to swim in.
Needs more education to give these animals space and if you cannot provide enough space use video. These animals shouldn't be put on lockdown for your kids pleasure.
I went to see for myself the state the animals are in and the small fish seem OK. The large fish and especially seals should be let go into their natural habitat.
Everyone being locked down recently should know how prison in a small space affects you. Please let them go our give them much more space and better living.
I wish I hadn't gone, it was depressing to see. A happy content shark doesn't sit on the bottom of a tank, we saw 6 of them!!!!

Hi Daisy22doo we are devastated to hear you had such a bad experience with us. We are usually known as the biggest aquarium in Malaysia.. But we completely understand that our reputation is not something we should mention. We will take this as the opportunity to keep on improvising the best attraction for you in the future. Thank you for your visit!

Just an okay aquatic exhibit will certain animals - mostly penguins and seals. Some displays were not clean and well kept and hence soured the experience. Wouldn’t visit again until they improve on service and maintenance levels.

The area is way to small to hold these majestic animals. They have reptiles in literally one foot glass cubes... Sea lions in a tiny aquarium. Sea lions which btw are trained!
I don't know what I was expecting.. I am horrified that I put money into this place. These babies need to be moved to a Sanctuary. They deserve more then these tiny glass cells!

Dear kiranmaheen, we want to extend our sincerest apologies concerning all the issues you have face. We pride ourselves in maintaining the highest quality standards for our customers. We will take this as the opportunity to explain what happen from our side. From your point of view, you are thinking that the display tank were small for the seals, actually the display tank is specially design for three (3) seals. Besides the display tank, the seals also have quite large space at the back of display tank and everyday our keeper will bring them to the back of the display tank and feed them. I would like to thank you for visiting us!

Anywhere that contains animals outside their natural habitat is going to be open to criticism and Underwater World is no exception! The various enclosures are pleasantly done but not big enough for the animals inside! That being said, the animals are relatively safe, well fed and they bring joy to those who visit, when otherwise they might remain unknown, in danger and struggling to survive. Ethics aside, Underwater World is a pleasant couple of hours attraction and worth a visit, to see the joy on the faces of children as they come face to face with such majestic creatures, is priceless. Go see for yourself!!

When Underwater World was given permission to re open because of the CMCO we headed there. Face masks to be worn at all times. It wasn't crowded so we had many great photo opportunities. Many fish all sizes. Loved the penquins.
Also some birds.
You exit through one of the many Duty Free shops on the Island.

there are different prices for foreigners and for locals. The underwater world was not well maintained. Very limited sea creatures to view. The area smelled. If you are deciding to come to Langkawi I would definitely give this place a miss.

What I didn't expect to see was flamingos, peacocks, and some other creatures as soon as you step into the 2nd hall. As they're not caged in, you can see them quite closely.
Of course, you'll see many type of fishes and crustaceans. Jellyfish, sharks, turtle, stingrays, and one of their main attraction are the penguins.
The penguins enclosure or habitat are a unique one. There was underwater view where you can watch them swimming around and ground view where they stands around trying to keep warm. It was a unique experience.

Normal operation for Langkawi SkyCab is 09.30am to 7.00pm on weekdays, weekends, school holiday and public holiday.
Although I would not recommend to go for sky bridge on eid day.
You could plan up with adventure sports rather,
find out about ATV extreme sports - in melaka i guess.
Its a nice ride with the guide reserve in advance.
Eagle square is just a photo spot.
cenang beach is good for water sports.
Underwater world is not worth - mangrove forest, island hopping is fun , kilim geoforest park and marine parks are good. You can carry your swimming clothes some packed food, beverages and water.
Beware of the monkeys.
Good luck.

I'm visiting Langkawi off a cruise ship next month and would like to visit UWL. Although the cruise has a tour which visits, I would prefer to go just with my family. How do I get to UWL from the area where the cruise ship will dock?
do I need local currency or do you accept credit cards?

As i traveled there not long ago, there's probably only one ferry terminal for big ships. I would advice you to take taxi, which is run by the local government and the price is fixed by distance, at the ferry terminal to reach the UWL. It'll take half an hour for the trip.
The entrance fee of UWL probably costs cash as i remembered, so you need cash to pay the taxi and the entrance fee.
