Great activity for a rainy day
We have been at Atma Batik Village with our kids on a rainy afternoon to do their batik painting activity and we really enjoyed it. The staff is very friendly, we got to choose the batik patern and they provide the fabric painting. The price is 30 MYR per fabric. We have been briefly taught how to use the colours, how to dilute and combine the primary colours. Allow at least 1 hour to complete the painting and 10 min for drying. They are selling also some nice items inside, unfortunately the shop was closing and we didn't get much time to look around, but bought some lovely handmade table napkins. It would be nice to have someone explain more about their workshop and about batik technique. Overall it's a good experience especially for families with kids or art lovers

    Serene and calm batik village
Checked this place out as we wanted yo experience batik painting as a family. Located not too far from the airport, the traditional architectural complex has a beautiful calming effect as you drive in. It was rather quiet when we went in the morning. Very friendly assistants who took us to select our pre drawn canvas. We were then taken to the workshop where we were given colours and brush. As a bonus, we had the privilege of meeting the owner/ founder, Aza who's an oil painter who gave us a couple of tips. Friendly and warm chap, we got to meet his wife the co founder too. There's something about the place that's relaxing and calming. Highly recommended.

    Pleasant purchase of Batik shirts
Easy experience for Batik shirts, popped in today and picked up 2 whilst my wife was prone on the beach at The Datai. Near airport or 30 mins from my resort by car. Very pleasant lady helped me to choose and size correct. Suspect I will be back tomorrow as they had some really nice ladies beach dresses.

We have been visiting Atma Alam for a number of years now. We usually buy a lot of products to bring home. We always paint batik pictures too. This time, however, we were followed around the shop incessantly. After 15 minutes, my husband walked outside. When I went to find him, he said he didn't want to go back inside because he couldn't browse at his leisure. I think it's a cultural thing. In Europe, if you're followed in a store you are suspected of stealing!! So, we left it at that and didn't go back. It's a shame because we usually spend quite a bit there and enjoy the batik painting (we both make pottery in the UK, and my husband paints (oils mostly), so for us, it was quite sad.

Badly signposted and we nearly gave up... I'm so glad we didn't and finally found this little gem.

The staff here were great... Keen to show us the batik making process but what over-excited me completely was the rolls and rolls of locally made batik cottons and silks they have to sell... Heaven for a sewer like me! These batiks are hand-blocked, and really super simple designs in wonderful colours at very reasonable prices... They will cut as little as 1/4 metres which meant I had a wide selection to take home with me and get creative! Also some lovely kids toys and clothes in batiks as well as beautiful silk scarves and sarongs.. Stylish quality at reasonable prices... Not the usual langkawi tourist tat!!

Recommend this as must visit for connoisseurs of art. Place appears a bit run down but they have innovative work on display all handmade and mostly related to batik. So if you interested in picking up a souvenir give away's while you visit Langkawi, this is THE place. Enough variety to make prudent choice fitting every pocket.

Here you can get authentic Batik souvenirs(dresses, handkerchief, table cloth, shirt, skirts, pants, paintings and many more). Prices depends on the size and the difficulty of creating the Batik itself.

For those who want to try Batik Painting, they have some pre drawn batik designs, which cost RM30, and you can sit down to colour them to your imaginations and creativity.

Main highlight of my one day tour. Was really enjoying painting my own batik (RM $30). Various designs to choose from. As this was the last place I visited before the end of the tour, I did not have much time shopping for the batik products. Only bought one small carrier

I was looking for batik and I found this stunning gallery. Well worth the (inexpensive) taxi ride for a gallery full of beautiful scarfs, bags, and clothes. The pieces were unique and the prices were reasonable. Highly recommend.

Visited here with my wife. A really large selection of batik goods. We also saw a short demonstration of batik painting. If you are looking for genuine local products that are attractive this is well worth a visit. Batik is never cheap, but the prices here were very good when compared to KL and Penang. Good for souvenir and present buying.

This is a large retail outlet with batik and other handicrafts. From a European perspective the prices are very reasonable - even cheap. And there is a huge range. We actually went to spend a couple of hours out of the heat and to try doing a batik painting. For only 30 ringgits (£6) you choose a pre drawn fabric which is already mounted onto a frame. A quick training and off you go, we were delighted with the results and left as happy customers with our two paintings, and two tops. Recommend.

This being our 1st trip to Langkawi, and Malaysia in general, I had to stop here at Atma Alam Batik Village to quench my Batik fabric buying urges. I honestly could have walked away with All The Fabric!!!! (by the metre) but contented myself with a few meters each of cotton, cotton voile & silk cotton.
The place is huge and has a studio/ workshop at one end where you can learn how Batik is made. You're then led into the shop itself where there's everything from a gallery to men's shirts, ladies handbag, shoes, toys, tablecloths & women's clothes all made from the Batik fabric that is produced there.
You can easily spend a couple of hours there as its the only place on the island to get locally made batik.
Highly recommended for 1st timers & fabric hoarders as I'd definitely go back again for more fabric.
