WOW! Cheaper than airport duty free. I got a 1 litre bottle of Absolut Vodka for AU$12 and cigarettes are very cheap to, also chocolates and perfumes etc.... Definately worth saving all duty free shopping till here!

Getting to Langkawi from KL is bit of a challenge. People prefer to travel by air most of time. However I took the courage to travel by road. The best way is to catch the 10 pm bus from puduraya bus station. It will reach kualaperlis at 8 am next morning. Buses are very comfortable and stop en route frequently. Save one night fare. Travel the night. Catch the first ferry from perlis to Langkawi.
Duty free shopping is great. Getting good rates for forex could be a challenge. So convert your money from KL. Hotels are cheap in langkawi. Food is cheap. Shopping is cheap and rent a car is cheap. Hope you enjoy

Langkawi is a duty free Island and anyone selling alcohol and cigarettes will be your best friend. Any of the official duty free shops have a large range of products across the range and provide pleasant air conditioned comfort for browsing. Spirits and beer are the big drawcards with prices significantly more appealing than the airport operators. Next time I will stock up on upper top shelf as that's where the huge savings are. Bottoms up !!

During my last visit in Jan 2015, Samudra duty free is no longer operating. It has been replaced by Billion supermarket at the original location. I am not sure if it has moved to other places.

Wonderful offers, which were genuine. Highly recommended. This was an interesting shop and should not be missed, as good for browsing in the evenings.

If you are crazy bout chocolates, perfumes and liquors then this is the place. It was cheaper than airport duty free. Dont expect shopping for bags and clothes since theres only a little. But yes you can buy the items I mentioned at the beginning..a box of mixed Lindt Chocolate that cost you almost MYR 100 at the KL airport will only cost you MYR 65, they even give you additional discount occasionally

Location is ideal and although the DFS shops are just side by side to each other we found that this is the better place to buy our things. Staff is attentive and the crowd is always there so shop away!!

for perfume and branded things thailand is better but for chocolate i think langkawi is not bad. Many chocolate brand available from the famous chocolate up to unknown brand are available. but be careful sometimes the promotion is tricky. the price seems cheaper if you buy two than one but if you calculate it the price is just the same or even more expensive even for just one or two cents
