This is a good effective and cheaper way to get to Langkawi. The journey is fine for those who like boats, but more for back packers, the young and the locals. Travelling with a big suitcase was a small challenge to get it on and off the boat. Don't use this if you get sea sick as my partner did.... More

We took the 8.30 am ferry from Penang. You are allocated a seat and it is a 3 hour trip. We got a seat near the front and we watched a couple of inappropriate movies for the type of people there. (Wolverine and a Sly Stallone movie). There is no food or drink provided on board and I think there... More

Its was a very very very rough 3 hour journey. By the first hour, you hear a lot of vomiting sounds. Please bring plastic bags.

the boat they used are old!!...but you pay a high price for that trip...we was supposed to leave from penang to langkawi today at 2pm, they delay 1 hour no any explanation just voices saying that because rough seas others delay from langkawi... they should have warned at least that seas conditions are bad... the boat either is old, or... It was really easy to find, book and on time. I felt safe it wasn't over crowded, and there were life jackets. Seating is indoors so it feels a little claustrophobic but manageable.

1st experience from Kuala Kedah to Langkawi return with ferry. Ferry delay and late when depart, 1.30pm but wait until 2.30pm. Everyone was rushed in and out from ferry with no Q up.

If you travel by car from the mainland, you need to park at Kuala Kedah or Kuala Perlis and take the ferry to Langkawi. It is a short ride of over an hour and depending on the weather is normally quite smooth and comfortable. Lots of locals use this mode of transportation so it can get pretty crowded during the... Not much changes since my last visit in year 2005. Spacious and relatively enough seats for visitors who are waiting for ferry. However, most of the fans are out of order, no air-condition and everyone is sweating even early in the morning. Sound system that are used for announcement is hardly to be heard clearly. Charges for overnight car parking... More

it is better to take ferry from Kuala Perlis instead of Kuala Kedah to avoid big wave. normally for 1 adult the fee is RM18 per way (Kuala Perlis - Langkawi). the duration around 1hour plus and each hour there will be 1 ferry to go. first and last ferry is 7am and 7pm daily.

We travelled from Langkawi to Penang on the 10.30am ferry. We took a taxi from Cenang Beach (Rm45) which dropped us off at the Jetty area. We booked on-line (12yo was considered an adult) Rm70 for adult, child RM55. They take your passport details. I noticed I was charged an $8 transaction fee. We booked as we wanted to ensure... More
