The Grand Palace Park has been closed to the public from 2nd January 2012 till 19th January 2014. Lots of refurbishment and land scape works on going. Hope its opened as scheduled and is a great tourist attraction.

Been go this park several times since I have my own children. This is a good place for the kids run and down on the green field. Of course we were only allowed to walking around the park beside the palace (Istana Besar). The palace museum just beside this park. You can just sit on the slope field and enjoy very beautiful sea view especially on a brightly sunny day.

The Grand Palace Park is the gardens in the grounds of the Grand Palace of Johor. It’s a superbly landscaped and maintained park. The garden overlooks the Straits of Johor and offers great views of the surrounding areas as befits a palace. However, it doesn’t appear to be open to the public. Several of the entrances were closed. There’s even some very serious warning signs about trespassing (see my photos). It’s a nice landmark building even though you can really only see it from afar.

There have been no recent updates on this park, and rightfully so, as it remains closed to the public almost 2 years after the park was closed for renovations. The grounds were supposed to be open to the public early this year.
There have been no news confirming when this little green lung in Jb will re-open. The museum is unlikely to be re-opened to the public.
This Royal Gardens, now viewed from across a busy road, brings back happy childhood memories.
Possibly inspired by the Imperial Palace in Tokyo, it had beautifully landscaped grounds with a Japanese-style house and pond in one corner of the park.
It was a great place for a jog or evening stroll.
I will update this review if the park re-opens to the public.

Grand Palace Park (Istana Besar) is the royal palace of Johor Bahru which is currently used for state banquets and royal functions, therefore it is closed for public entry. So can view the majestic architecture from a distance. This palace and Sultan Abu Bakar State Mosque are located in near by areas.

Don't really understand... From outside seems very nice.. Green, well treated and lots of trees... But is not, for visiting or enjoy... Is closed, fenced and guarded... Also you will find several sign, if you try go in they can shut you... We were looking a place with some green, to run out of busy and dirty Jb ...annoying... Frustrated...
