Do not miss the cave if you visit Ankarana. We went to see the Tsingy and the suspension bridge and that did not disappoint but I didn’t know about the short hike to the cave. This was a pleasant surprise and an incredible and accessible...More

I think this place is better than Tsingy Bemaraha(I haven't been here...) because Ankarana is near big city so better to get here. Entrance fee: 65,000Ar Guide fee: 50,000 / 70,000 / 90,000 Ar according to routes.

We spent one day hiking in the park from the east entrance. It was interesting to see the different types of vegetation. It was quite dry when we were there but there was obvious damage from a cyclone that had badly damaged the area earlier...More

A great walk, we did not complete some of the more difficult paths but saw the crown lemurs in a group at low level, the rock formations are spectacular, the tsingy an example of erosion over many years. The hole in the river where the...More

This was our favorite park/hike of our trip. Our guide was sensational and took us on the longest hike available (4-5 hours), covering semi-dry forest, dry forest, caves, vistas, lemurs, footbridges, and of course the breathtaking tsingy. We learned more history about Madagascar from our...More

We wanted to stay in Ankarana for 3 days, but in the end just spent 1 full day there. On the website it seems as if they have several full day tours, but actually you can do them all in 1 day with still time...More

This was my second park in Madagascar. I enjoyed the hikes very much. The trails were in good condition and well marked. The hike to the Tsingy is uncomfortably hot on a sunny day. You are totally exposed to the sun and it's easy to...More

Other than the tsingy, you can see countless crowned lemurs and Sanford's brown lemurs. And if you are as lucky as I, you might be able to spot a fossa.

They raised fees , force you to take a guide for a fee and if it is late during the day that you arrive they will not let you in again next morning

We spent the day here walking the trails and viewing the enormous diversity of wildlife here both large & small. Plenty of beautiful birds, chameleons from large to only a few inches & Geckos that are wizards at camouflage. And of course there were plenty...More

Hello, The guide was very knowledgeable and funny ! But in Ankarana reserve, there is no choice for a guide, like recommendation. They work as a turn system. So you just go to the park office, and they will tell you who is... More

Hello everyone, Me and my girlfriend will go to Madagascar in April May 2015 As I read more and more about the country, I realise that 27 days is not exactly enough to see everything that the country offers. We will travel independently some with 4X4, long distances or we may fly ( we will travel on a budget but it doesn't have to come as cheap as possible our budget is about 250 euos a day ). Our focus will be wildlife ( Lemurs to be exactly ). Chameleons or birds ( or insects ) would...More

your planning is practically very limit. You loose time with taxibrousse. Traveling at night is not recommended yet. So far, I think that your budget allows you to hire a car and avoid a mess on taxibrousse. - Check your private message on tripadvisor for further detail.

How far fro DS to Ankarana and to Nosy Be? (5 Replies)
Hi I am traveling with two friends to Madagascar from 2- 13 October. We arrive in Tana, and plan to fly up to Diego Suarez on 4th. I would like to visit Ankarana reserve as well as Nosy Be. As we have to back in Tana by 11/12 October, is there enough time to do both? If we hire a driver, how long will it take to get from DS to Nosy Be / Hel-ville? How long is the drive from DS to Ankarana? Any advice would really be appreciated. Thanks
