Beach around a nice fishermen village
Jul 2019
Ramena is the departing point for trips to the Emerald Sea or the 3 Bays, but also deserves a stop.
The beach is wide and offers several great photo spots (including the typical boats); there are also several nice gargottes offering fresh fish at low price and also T-shirst and souvenirs.
For a nice swim, go to the beach side opposite the bays, where the water becomes cleaner and it is also much more quiet.

If you visit Diego: Ramena is a must
Dec 2018 • Family
Ramena beach is one of my favorite in the whole world. This is a working beach with real fishermen pulling in their catches, beach snack bars and restaurants, nice sand, good waves and a responsive tide. A great place to swim, do water sports or just bob in the waves. The view of the bay and Diego in the distance is splendid.

Just beach, not clean, lots of people.

To swim and relax, I think beach among three bays are much better.

Marvellous beach

is a marvellous beach near Diego Soares. You can eat the very good fish there under a nice umbrella with table and bed . The fish is very fresh and the cooking is exactly behind of you .The colours are marvellous

Worth a visit
Jul 2018 • Couples
This quiet little stretch of beach offers nice, calm swimming, scenic walking, and the occasional zebu passerby. The sand is clean and the sunsets amazing. A number of good restaurants are available as well.

Paradise.......
Aug 2018
If you’ve a motorbike and ride fast it’s about 30 minutes from Diego. A taxi or bus will take 45mins to an hour. The road is poor and bumpy, but then all the roads in Madagascar are poor and bumpy.

Having visited the beach 3 times and eaten in three different restaurants my advice is to turn left rather than right once you park the car.

Turn right and there are about 6 shack like beach restaurants all serving the same bland food, with poor and very slow service. You will be hounded by the beach sellers all afternoon trying to sell oils, or shells or vanilla.

Turn left however and walk for about 10minutes and you will find a small guesthouse called “Le 5 Trop Pres”. There are a couple of beach sun beds in front of the restaurant, trees for shade if you wish and friendly ladies offering good value massages.

You can have a beer on the beach, and order your lunch or dinner at the time you wish and they will call you when it’s ready. My grilled fish was excellent.

Perfect

Horrible Diving experience

The dive school is called madascaph. Do not dive with them. Their Equipment is crap. Their staff is not licensed. Their boats are leaky and not safe.

Beautiful, quiet beach
Feb 2015 • Solo
Ramena Beach is located directly at Ramena Village, 18 kilometres from Diego Suarez, by the entry of Diego Suarez bay - the second largest natural bay in the world. The beach is popular amongst day visitors coming from Diego town, especially on weekends.

Ramena Beach is several kilometres long with a number of hotels and small local restaurants dotted along the beach. At the south end of the beach mangroves are growing.
