Ahotsun assisted us with the booking of all our hotels, we hired our own driver recommended by a local friend. Philip organized our gull boarded accommodations according to our itinerary, he also adjusted to our budget and all the hotels he found for us were great.

We even had to change our itinerary a little bit because of a flight cancelation and Philip adapted to that as well.

An amazingly-well organised, tailor-made (number of days, activities, budget, location of pick up and drop off) safari tour in Masai Mara (coming from Nairobi) with a great driver who was very knowledgeable and passionate about the wildlife of the park!
On top of it, the choice of accommodation was beyond our expectations and an amazing place to stay!
All in all, totally recommend the agency which offers a great quality of service for the price!

The only negative thing I have to say is that this amazing experience came to an end. Everything else was simply perfect. We planned a five day safari and two day relax at Watamu beach. Alfred our guide and Gare Gare our driver were simply incredible. They were with us the whole time making sure that we had everything we needed and wanted. I couldn’t ask for more. They made sure to give us the best of Kenya till the last minute. And we bonded with them profoundly.
I deeply recommend booking with them. My husband and I traveled with with our two kids (7&14) and Alfred made sure that the kids and us really enjoy every moment.
Thank you once again for everything. You are in our hearts forever ❤️

We had an amazing 3 day safari with our amazing guide Bonni.
He knew all the remote paths, and did his best to keep the spirits high, even with 1 day of rain.
The fig tree camp stay was so much more than we expected and we had an unforgettable time.

To make a long story short (if you don't want to read all of it): we spent a lot of money on a 7 day game driving tour and only had 1,5 good days out of it. They have very, very bad cars and awful organization because of a lack of communication and lack of help (really rude people). Would definitely not recommend booking with them as it was one of the worst weeks of our lives. If you want to know the full story, read on.

We went on a 7 day tour with Ahotsun (we arranged everything with Philip) and paid extra money for a jeep instead of a van. The jeep was really really old and had had its best time. First day car broke down (we couldn't even reach more than 15 kms/hour at some points and the engine was overheating all the time) and we wasted all our time in a boring "city" to get the engine fixed, barely saw Masai Mara park that day. The next day was good at Masai Mara, we saw a lot of animals and had a lot of fun. Our driver was really good at having contacts with other guides to get us to the animals the fastest. The third day we went to Nakuru park but drove really slowly. There was again a problem with the car! We wasted yet again a lot of time (instead of spending 4 hours in the car we spent 8 hours in the car). We saw a bit of that park but had to rush because we already lost a lot of time because of the car. On the 4th day, we didn't do anything. We were supposed to go to Amboseli that day but we didn't go. On the 5th day we went to Amboseli but never reached the park because the car broke down AGAIN. Engine had given up totally and car was constantly overheating. We had to be towed by another jeep. There was nothing to do about it, our car had to stay in this little town just before arriving to Amboseli. We didn't have lunch that day and it was already18h in the afternoon when we arrived at our lodge. Normally, we would have been in the park before lunch! We tried to stay calm while calling Philip but he didn't want to talk to us, provide us any details,… he just wasn’t helping us in any way. And that made us pissed off as well. We had still 2 days to go and had already spent 5 days with this company and only having 1 good day! It was awful. After 10000 times of calling Philip (he didn't want to answer the phone), our driver tried to arrange some things for us. We agreed on having a van coming from the seaside to pick us up at 6h in the morning so we could have a game drive and day drive at Amboseli.. All that extra money wasted on the jeep was not worth it so it seemed :-). Next day at 6h in the morning we were waiting in front of our lodge for the van... no one came. At 9h30 finally the van arrived, with another driver. We had to leave our driver behind and go with this new driver we didn’t know. We went to the Amboseli park with the van but were really really devastated because of the lack of service from ahotsun. The park was okay-ish but we didn't feel well so we couldn't enjoy it.
After Amboseli we were supposed to go to Tsavo East and later on to the seaside (Watamu). We dropped our previous driver off somewhere on the side of the road and went on with our new driver in the van. After driving 2 kms, the van starts overheating and we have to stop... can you believe this? The driver comes in the back and opens this tank (just behind the passengers' seat), this was apparently the tank for the cooling liquid. The liquid inside had begun to boil since we were overheating the car and once the driver opened the tank, all the liquid came sort of spraying out, just upon us. At my boyfriends' side there was a door so he could escape easily from the boiling liquid that was splashing onto our skins, but at my side there was only a window. After screaming a lot and the driver just standing there and watching it happen, my boyfriend found a way to pull me out of the van through the window. We just wanted to go home so badly. We applied a lot of water on the wounds but still at the moment (5 months later) I have stains on my legs from the wounds. :(
After this you would think that the sad story would end, but we didn't get any communication from Philip or Ahotsun at that moment and the driver said he didn't want to drive us anymore. So we brought the van back to the town were the jeep was towed to. There the two vehicles of Ahotsun were standing.. useless. After 2 hours of standing in thehotsun (;)), they arranged us a literally dirty car to just go straight to Watamu. This was a car that was used to transport goats and it had feces and hair all over the place and smelled really bad. We spent almost 10h in this car on our way to Watamu. We got there at 23h in the evening and were relieved to finally get out and leave everything behind. We didn't get to see Tsavo East and West, we hadn't eaten all day, but we were fed up with it.

The next day we met up with some guys from Ahotsun but they really tried to rip us off. After negotiating for over 2 hours, we got back 400 euros (we paid a total of €2350) and they were smiling and mocking us, you could tell they had done this before. After all this mess and bad luck we had a hard time coping with what happened so we went to the police but nothing really came from it. It was hard to enjoy the rest of our holiday after this.

Please don't book with them if you want a trip worth the money you spend on it.

My wife and I took our first trip to Kenya last month. Joseph and his team from Ahotsun were fantastic! Joseph was extremely responsive by email as we were planning our trip and went to great lengths to make sure everything we planned met our needs. The quality of their customer service once we arrived was exceptional. Thanks to Joseph’s concern for our personal well-being, our short one-week stay in Malindi was well-balanced between the cultural experience we wanted this trip to be and our need for rest and relaxation. Joseph even recommended schedule changes to give us the rest we needed while still being able to accomplish all of our sightseeing goals. The highlight of our trip was a two-day, overnight safari in the Tsavo East National Park. Gare Gare was our very personable and knowledgeable guide. He provided a personalized and professional tour of the park, knowing just here to go to see the many majestic animals that inhabit this natural wonderland. From lions to elephants, giraffes, hippos, water buffalo and gazelles, we saw them all. After our return to Malindi following the safari, we had a local shopping tour and visited Watamu Beach, the Gede Historic Monument, and several local villages to give us a flavor of day-to-day life in Kenya. Joseph also provided transfers from the airport in Mombasa to our resort in Malindi. We ended our Kenya experience with a Mombasa city tour on our way to the airport. All in all, the quality of the tours were outstanding, the costs were affordable, and personal attention we received was unmatched by any of our many tour experiences to date. There is no doubt that we will be working with Ahotsun again.

We went to Kenia at the beginning of November 2013 for a short stay in Malindi. We were four and it was our first trip to Kenia. Having one week in Malindi we wanted to “taste” a safari and we made a two day trip to Tsavo East park with Ahotsun Safaris. It was amazing experience and I recommend to everyone who stay in Malindi to make this trip.

We could see a lot of wild animals. We met giraffes, antelopes, monkeys, crocodiles, hippopotamus, different tips of birds and a lot of elephants. I recommend this park especially because of beautiful herd of elephants. Thanks to our driver we met also three lions what is – as we were told - something exceptional for a so short stay.

We spent night in Sentrim Safari Camp and we consider this accommodation as a very nice and comfortable one, located in the center of Tsavo East. At night you can see elephants and other animals drinking water from watering hole which is just in front of the restaurant. Swimming pool is also available for those who want to relax.

In a way back we could visit local villages and local school. It was unforgettable and very emotive experience which allowed us to see real live near Malindi.

Ahotsun Safaris provides professional service. The owner of the company, Joseph is a very serious person and you can count on him. Our driver used CB radio to contact other drivers and to identify the best places to see animas – this is why we could meet lions. Moreover they were flexible and open to provide us tailor-made service.

I would like to thank Ahotsun Safaris for very good service and personally to Joseph for helping us to recover our cellular phone we lost accidentally during our trip.

We just came back from this tour (March 16 to 18) based from Malindi and thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it. Our guide and driver (Cobra) had over 23 years of guide experience, spoke English well and was very knowledgable about the two areas and their animals. He went out of his to maximize the five safari drives we took to see as many animals as possible (including elephants, lions, leopard, ungulates, tortoises, monitor lizard, many birds, zebras and hippos). The only animal we didn't see was the rhinoceros, which is nocturnal and endangered.

We also enjoyed Mzima Springs in Tsavo West along with excellent views of Kilamanjaro. The accommodation at Sentrim Safari Camp (first night) and Rhino Valley Lodge (second night) were very comfortable and the food at each was very good. The tour company even arranged a birthday cake for my partner on the second night!

Their price is reasonable for a mid-range tour (including meals, accommodation and entry fees ) ycompared to other companies and we highly recommend them for their level of service and care to ensure our trip was enjoyable.

We booked our safari with Ahotsun safaris, from the UK prior to travelling to Kenya. They assisted us to choose exactly what we wanted to include and we travelled with our guide between three lodges, over four nights to Ashnil Aruba, Voi and Ngulia.
We saw the big five, plus many many more animals and some wonderful birds. Our driver, Galgare, was excellent and able to spot animals not seen by other drivers. We were the only people staying in Ngulia who saw a mother rhino with her baby outside of the rhino reserve - a wonderful experience.
We would have no hesitation in recommending Philip from Ahotsun if you wish to organise your own safari in this great country.
