- Haytham Abu FirasQatar21,230 contributionsNational MuseumVisiting National Museum of every country I visit is in my top priority. Many things to learn about history, traditions, culture, ethnic groups, agriculture and many others. A decent visit with a cheap entrance ticket. Many animals present in Kazakhstan wildlife, different kinds of dresses, weapons used now and during Soviet Union era, huge maps of the nation, coins, industrial buildings and others. What stopped me is a corner near entrance where you can to leave your coat hanged till end of the visit.Visited October 2023Traveled with familyWritten October 23, 2023
- Emma G75 contributionsHighly interesting, cultural and historical!Really great museum, 500 tenge per adult and lots of different exhibits to see. The building alone is stunning! The displays have English labels which was extremely helpful. Fantastic for learning more about Kazakh culture and history.Visited February 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten February 15, 2024
- Reslysten54Vienna, Virginia2,703 contributionsRich collection including the Golden Prince-WarriorThe single most noteworthy item in this rich collection is probably the Golden Prince-Warrior, or Golden Man. A burial site of magnificient riches was found in 1969, about 50 km from Almaty. It was dated to 4-3 centuries BC and contained about 4,000 gold items. The reconstruction of the noble figure found there has become a national symbol of Kazakhstan. The display of traditional costumes from various ethinic groups is also impressive and visually attractive.Visited April 2024Traveled with friendsWritten May 22, 2024

Having nothing left to do in Almaty we went to this Museum. It's located in vicinity of the Independence square with very interesting and beautiful traditional exterior architecture in white and blue colors.
Entry fee is unbelievably low at 500 Tenge which is 1 US$ !!!
The Museum exhibit starts at the ground floor level to the right with prehistoric era to middle ages. Early life with primitive tools, weapons, flora and fauna is presented over centuries, as well a life size yurt replica. All exhibits have English labels which I found very useful.
On the second floor is the modern era. An entire room is dedicated to nationalities with their traditional costumes who inhabit Kazakhstan, which prides itself with its numerous (over 100) nations living in it. This floor emphasizes Imperial Russia occupation, life under Soviet Union and gaining independence in 1991. The exhibit concludes with independent Kazakhstan, it's development under Nur Sultan, Space program,...etc.
We spent around hour and a half and really enjoyed it.

Best way to learn the rich history, culture, civilization and heritage of this beautiful country. I have to struggle to find the entrance as the entire front portion was dug up and undergoing renovations. Once I entered, I was immersed in the grandeur of the country from bronze age to present times. The archeological finds, ethnographic display and a variety of exhibits is quite educative as well as informative. There is admission ticket to enter the Museum. Photography is allowed. The staff are extremely polite and helpful to understand the exhibits in proper perspective. I suggest that there should have been a brochure in english for visitors like me. Not to be missed.

A great way to learn about the history of Kazakhstan. This is one of the largest museums in Central Asia and provides an overview of the history and ethnography of the country. A key exhibit is the exact miniature copy of the military uniform of the "golden man" made from over 4000 golden parts.

A visit to the Central State Museum of Kazakhstan in Almaty reminded how it inspired the architect Oleg Sergeevich Vorobyov, inspired by the ideas and beauty of the museum exhibitions. His creative genius and vision are beautifully reflected in the intricate shapes and unique designs that have become a symbol of Kazakhstan's modern cultural heritage. Thanks to the museum, Vorobyov created not just buildings in Kyrgyzstan, but sources of inspiration and pride for all visitors and residents of those regions.

Quite an interesting museum, you can learn the history and culture of Kazakhstan from dinosaurs to the present day. There are many different exhibits and large exhibitions, but something modern and interactive is missing. There are also small souvenir stalls with handicrafts. Fits well into the atmosphere of the city. A very interesting place, and the museum building itself looks beautiful. Worth to visit!

It's easy to reach via public transport, surrounded by parks. Now there is construction work around it, so you need to enter on the left side of the building.
Cheap tickets, some interesting exhibits. Mostly archaeology and history, It could be made more exciting, but it is quite interesting as it is.

Unfortunately, the museum wasn't impressed. It's more like local history. Several halls of Kazakhstan's history, starting with dinosaurs and ending in the present.
Going to see the country, yes. Coming a second time – definitely not.

Very impressive and interesting museum! You really need at least 2 hours to take everything in. You can really learn about the entire history and culture of Kazakhstan
My phone died and the staff ordered a ride share for me- so sweet. They use Yandex taxi app. It shows you how much and you pay in cash. I used it all over the city. Very affordable. Maybe 5 USD per ride for 15-20 minutes.
