Moving memorial
Sep 2019
Although the history of what happened outside Moscow has been questioned, the memorial is very moving and shows the impact and memories of the population.

Real History
Oct 2019
Americans do not fully appreciate the impact of WWII on the Soviet Union. This memorial, like some others, displays both the courage of the soldiers and the enduring memories that still shap the intense feelings today. Our guide was in tears relating what happened in his family. Do not miss

World war history

It feels different. There is a song which is being played there continuously. I was not able to understand but I am sure it would be a petriotic song. We really clicked a lot of pics and it was good fun

STUNNING!

Wow, did the architect get that one right! This is by far the most beautiful monument I've seen in Central Asia. Just the amazing story behind it, this design is superb and couldn't have been done better!

Historic USSR place
Sep 2019
If you still love or miss USSR, this is a place to visit. If you are more critical in life, this is a good place to see how legends were created to brainwash people. That 'wash' was so good that it is still works for many of us who were born in the USSR.

Inspiring and Moving

The sheer size is imposing and we actually stood quite in awe of this monument. The outline of the USSR is evident and the central figure incredible.

War Memorial

Pleasant rectangular plaza dominated by overhanging memorial to Panfilovs 28 guardsmen. Black tiled centrepiece encapsulating an eternal flame.
At the far end near the flame there is a relief for memorial of the 1917-1920 civil war on one side, and 1939-1945 Second World War on the other.

QUITE A MONUMENT!
Sep 2018 • Couples
Very disappointed by the Orthodox Church nearby closed for restauration, we end up by mistake at the Glory Memorial. One might think it is the usual war memorial and it is true, but Soviet art is, by now, history and deserves to be known. This is definetely an example worthy to be seen also for the respect that everybody pays to it. For some reason, their Youth has not forgotten like ours...

Magnificent sculpture and memorial
Jul 2018 • Family
We had visited quite a few war memorials in Kazakhstan, but this was our favourite. The sculpture depicts the 28 Guardsmen of Paniflov's division bursting forward, seemingly in the act of attacking the enemy. At the base of the sculpture are references to the defence of Moscow in WW2. The leader of this unit of Kazakh and Kyrygz men, Ivan Paniflov, has a bust at the entrance to the park, and the park is named in his honour.

During the second world war over 600,000 Kazakhstan soldiers were killed. The wall on the right had side has 1941-1945 and is dedicated to the soldiers who died in WW2. The wall on the left has 1917-1920 and is dedicated to Red Army soldiers who died in the Russian civil war. In the central section of the memorial area, is the eternal flame, which is on a rectangular black tiled base. A white marble slab with Russian inscriptions is also placed here. Near to the wall on the right is another small black tiled area with two plaques, one of which has the dates 1912-1960. The inscription was only in Russian here.At the eastern end of the memorial, was quite a few square concrete structures with stars on them. We assumed that this area was dedicated to the soldiers who received stars for bravery.

There are other attractions nearby in the Park, including Museum of Musical Instruments, Military Museum, Alley of Heads of State and the Afghan monument.
