Just a quick walk from the central Sendai train station the covered walking street offers a variety of shops an restaurants. Hidden gems for wine and food can be found in side allies and back streets.

Nice and lots of variety to shop
Dec 2018 • Solo
A three minute walk from Sendai Station. A three minute ride on the Tozai Line from Sendai Station to Aoba-dori Ichibancho Station and a one minute walk from there.

This place has a lot to offer. All sorts of different and great places to shop here.
Also great places to eat and fill you up, to your hearts content. This place is probably a few blocks long. So many directions you can travel and shop. Very nice and with a great variety of stores to shop at. There is even a Buddhist Temple in here as well.

I really enjoyed walking around window shopping, snacking, having a coffee, and just taking it all in. It was an enjoyable time here.

Great shopping boulevard
Jun 2018 • Solo
It runs a few blocks from JR Station. The covered walkway is lined with shops and restaurants on both sides. You can find basically everything here — department store, household goods, second handed books etc.

Home of Sendai's retro back alleys
Mar 2018 • Solo
A few restaurants, shops, and a McDonald's. But you really go here to see two really cool postwar style alleyways: Iroha Yokocho & Bunka Yokocho (although this one has been going since before the war actually!). Fun to walk through during the day, a must when wandering around at night!

The bars are so small that you sit shoulder-to-shoulder! Great way to talk with the locals!

A quintessential walking shopping street in Japan
Feb 2018 • Solo
As always, no trip to Sendai is complete without a wander up and down Ichibancho. The stores, street scenes, seasonal decorations and people watching are the best way to get to know the real Sendai.

Lots to see!

The SunMall cuts through the main streets of Senda City (including Aoba-dori and Hirose-dori) and is filled with international and japanese restaurants, bars and cafes, retail shops, and convenience stores. It is clean, pleasant and safe.

Pet shop and crepe
Oct 2017 • Friends
We went through Sunmall a lot of time but didn't really go to the shops. Except the pet shop which is super cute. We felt sorry for all those puppies being seperated and locked into a small and probably hot box, but they were really adorable. Besides that I would mention the crepe shop I forgot the name of. But they had delicious crepe for abot 500 yen. Unfortunately it's only a selling window, so there's no place to sit down, you have to eat standing. We bought strawberry-chocolate and whipped cream filled crepes.
