I was to attend a spouse outing with a conference group, but my group changed their itinerary due to one having a fall. I had no way of knowing, so I got on the Loople Sendai, and went to Sendai Castle. Apparently my group had changed the order in which they were seeing sites, and had taken private transportation. I... More

There is a very nice castle in Shiroishi, but if you think you're going to find one in Sendai you will be disappointed. I would suggest a trip to the nearby Zuihoden and if you like that you should see Matsushimals Zuiganji.

This really isn't a castle to tour but the site of the castle and a rough outline of one of the main halls. The views from the top of the hill are very good. There is some shopping and dining opportunities at the location as well.

There' s only ruins of the castle and a kind of litle museum. A group of guides are there to show how was the castle, explain the history and there is a statue of Date Masamune, the founder of Sendai.

You can walk up there to take pictures of bronze statue with the rider. Walk further to get to the edge to have 360 view of this city.

Incredible view of the city from the ruins. Other than that would be the statue of Date Masamune. Take the Sendai Loople bus for easy access.

My partner and I visited whilst in Sendai for the day. I wouldn't really describe it as a castle but it was nice and the views of Sendai city were incredible. It was a long walk from the station which I wouldn't do in the rain but the views made it worth it.

It's place with great view lookouts of the green city. The originality disappeared but the rebuilt one makes you feel how grandeur and invincible The city was of masamune era, the exhibition was well-informed and interesting. Souvenir shop and cafe is well provided you good experience of shopping and local specialties, Gyutan/japanese beans products.

Steep hill, nice park, great view of Sendai city from the top…but unfortunately no castle . Heard that the remains of the castle were bombed in WWII …such a pity.

It was okay. Old ruins and touristy shopping. Only one of few things to do in Sendai. Museum is more interesting.
