I went there as a history fan, and I was not disappointed. Though the few ruins that remain from the actual castle don't stand as the main point of interest there, the statue of Date Masamune, the incredible view of the city, the castle museum (and maybe the encounter with some members of the Date Bushoutai ?) are enough to... If you are spending some time in Sendai, it is definitely worth incorporating a visit to Sendai Castle into a sightseeing trip around the city. The view of Sendai is gorgeous and offers many photo opportunities. However, there is not much to see of the castle apart from foundation blocks and of course the statue of the founder of Sendai:... It's a worth visit of you are in Sendai. It takes around 30-40 mins to go around the castle. The main thing is the statue of the emperor on the horse. You can also have a look of the Sendai city from one of its viewing points. If u like historical stuff than u can additionally go to the Aoba... More

It is the place of castle with only remains of the Date clan, well established in Sendai by Date Masamune - the real warlord with one eye and is the founder of Sendai city. From the castle it is nice to see the majestic look for the Sendai city at night and I am sure Date Masamune watching from the... More

Not really a castle, but rather a ruins/foundation with nice views. Good spot for a picnic, cool statue, maybe you'll run into the Sendai actors.

One of the must-go tourist spot is to visit this 'castle', you maybe disappointed that no real 'castle' was sitting there. But you can still be able to see the famous samurai hero statue there. From there, you will be able to see a great view of Sendai city.

I was to attend a spouse outing with a conference group, but my group changed their itinerary due to one having a fall. I had no way of knowing, so I got on the Loople Sendai, and went to Sendai Castle. Apparently my group had changed the order in which they were seeing sites, and had taken private transportation. I... More

There is a very nice castle in Shiroishi, but if you think you're going to find one in Sendai you will be disappointed. I would suggest a trip to the nearby Zuihoden and if you like that you should see Matsushimals Zuiganji.

This really isn't a castle to tour but the site of the castle and a rough outline of one of the main halls. The views from the top of the hill are very good. There is some shopping and dining opportunities at the location as well.
