Wonderful, Uncrowded Cherry Blossoms Around Pond
Apr 2019
We stumbled onto this glorious pond surrounded by somei yoshino cherries. Around 3 pm it was uncrowded like Tokyo would be. Many benches for relaxing if walking around the pond. Boats for rental and food stalls but I don't know about this year 2020 with the cancellation of festivals.

A pleasure to visit
Nov 2019 • Couples
The centre of the attraction is the pond, surrounded by abundant vegetation. It is always a pleasure to walk under the trees, by the shore, around the pond, except perhaps during the very cold winter. In November, most of the trees have changed colour - with a stretch of red, orange and yellow. They make up such an amazingly beautiful scene. Highly recommended.

Perfect for a leisure walk - with or without cherry blossom
Apr 2019 • Couples
On my day of visit, the sakura flowers were in full blossom. The scenery was amazingly beautiful. The pond is not huge. The water calm and serene. Sakura trees line up the shore. It is a perfect place to spend one or two hours, walking under the trees, admiring the flowers above, chatting to your companions. It is an ideal place for a leisure walk even not during cherry blossom season. The place is not far from town centre, and can be easily accessed by public transport.

Popular sakura spot - great for a walk around the pond
Apr 2018 • Couples
When the cherry blossoms are at peak, the pond is a lovely place indeed.

You can walk around the pond admiring the trees overhead and across the pond and rising up the hillsides. At the start of the walk there are food stalls where you can buy a picnic lunch to eat on one of the benches there or further along the path.

Swan boats pass by on the water along with ducks and other water fowl. Families and friends, sitting on tarps on the open spots at the far end of the pond, were out enjoying the day and the blossoms.

The area was so crowded the day we visited, that the bus from the station was tied up in a traffic jam. The driver finally gave up and had to drop us all off a bit of a ways from the pond.

Beautiful park during all seasons
Apr 2018 • Solo
Takamatsu Park has a lot to offer throughout the seasons. In the spring it is known as one of the top 100 cherry blossom viewing sites, with cherry blossom trees surrounding the lake. During this time, there are a few food stalls set up beside the lake as well. During the springtime there are also a lot of daffodils on the hillside. In the summer the trees are lush and green. In the winter there are a lot of swans that stay at the lake. The lake is partially frozen during the winter. Year round you can see many ducks and fish in the pond as well. There's a good view of Mt. Iwate on clear days.

The park has many buses that go to and from its nearest bus stop Takamatsu no Ikeguchi 高松の池口. It's very convenient and the buses are very frequent.

For tourists, this is a great place to stop by for sakura viewing during full bloom. However if it's not the sakura season and you have a limited amount of time on your itinerary, Takamatsu Park is not a must-see.

Beautiful

The park has Japans most famous and protected fish "carp" for you too feed and watch. The duck boats are there to actually go out on the lake and the real ducks follow your boat along with the carp, waiting for you to drop food. The park itself is gorgeous and great for a nice walk on the trail.

The best time to go is in the Spring or early fall before it is full with snow!

We went and there were vendors to buy snacks and food from, not sure if they are always there, but a good little restaurant is on the corner where you turn into the park, if you get hungry.

It's a good place to stroll around the pond, feed the crazy koi, and enjoy the cherry blossoms if the season is right.
