It's not the place, it's the event that matters...

When there is no event, Machinaka Hiroba looks like little more than a parking lot, but a scheduled event can turn it into a festive venue. We just finished Fukushima City's 2018 BeerFes, July 20-22. Around the periphery of a big circus tent, local & regional brewers offered their various beers, by the regular glass or by a set of 4-5 smaller sampler glasses. I dropped by on Saturday and Sunday afternoon, in both instances running into old friends and making new ones. That's how we roll here in Fukushima.
