Nakanofudosan is a beautiful shrine up in the mountains near Iizaka. In the backdrop, there is an amazing waterfall. A stream runs through the shrine complex, with a path of multiple bridges. There is also a cave tunnel in the back of the waterfall with various Japanese deities in different niches. It is one of the most beautiful shrines I have been to in Japan. You definitely need a car to get to this one but it is well worth it. Outside of the shrine are small shops with unique local products. Definitely try to "umeboshi" made of out plums (rather than ume)!

The place I felt was especially powerful was the inner sanctuary inside the cave, which you can reach by passing through the Kenreimon Gate.

It's a truly fantastical cave where 36 children, disciples of Acala, are enshrined.

The Fudo Waterfall in Shuigyo also releases a maximum amount of negative ions, but the overall impression is one of calm and tranquil.

This is a temple I want to visit again.
