If you are visiting Aomori on a cruise ship then the ship will likely dock in the vicinity of this museum. It is more than just a wooden boat museum. It has a collection of Japanese kimono and yukata wear as well as other historic tools and collections. There is a large display of boats. In the centre of the building is a Japanese tea house where you can dress up in kimono/yukata and take part in a free Japanese tea ceremony.

This museum gives a real insight into the Japan of the past and it's people. We were glad we took the time out of a very short stay in Aomori to visit.
