This market is quite well hidden away about two streets behind the covered shopping mall. Furthermore it is not obvious that it is a market if one doesn't know Japanese as the front of the market has several restaurants. The market has segregated dry food...More

The seafood is so fresh I could easily change my diet completely! This is a very small market serving the needs of the local people selling seafood, fruit and vegetables, pickles. If you are around this area, do drop in and have a look. Perhaps buy...More

Pleasant clean market selling a wide range of reasonable priced fish, fruits, vegetables, local produce and ready to go dessert, crockery and cutlery . The sushi restaurant is fantastic serving excellent fresh rolls. I absolutely loved the fish roe.

We didn't buy anything but market was very interesting. Lots of food from the sea. Nice place to mix with the locals.

In Japan "Junsai" is precious. Other than Akita Prefecture only 2 or 3 pieces in Osuimono. As those are produced in Akita Prefecture, we can eat a lot here. After you buy them, you can boil them in hot water for 3 min. and eat...More

Very colourful . Bought reasonable clothing. Be prepared for the seafood encounter by sight and smell and the varieties of matcha, if you are interested. Without much Japanese we were still able to communicate in the market.

TA forbids links which is such a pain! So please search Akita ports / cruise guide of Japan The above link provides different options. I'd suggest going to Akita station then walk to the market or you can go there directly.

It takes 5 min on foot from Akita station. It is not close to Akita prefectural office or Akita city office, but close to Akita station.
