We visited the ruins of Kubota Castle in May 2015. The weather was fine and a moderate 24 to 25 degrees C. The approach to the castle grounds is up a reasonably steep hill followed by many, many, wide stone and gravel steps. I was...More

This was my 2nd time to visit the castle. This time the castle has been moved. Yes, they moved the whole castle 70 meters to a temporary space for the foundation maintenance. For those who want to see the castle in its original form, you...More

There is not much left of the actual castle but one tower was restored and gives a fantastic view of Akita City. There are also some maps and models of the castle on the second floor. It’s in the NW corner of Senshu Park so...More

The entrance to the castle was very cheap just 100 yen when we went. The museum within the castle is interesting but there is little or no English. On the top floor there is a terrace which offers wonderful views over Akita.

A very small but classic building to know the history of Akita. A fee of 100 JPY is collected but the view of the Akita city from this building is very good.

Wow! Meticulously restored turret of the former castle. Make your way to the top of the hill, and you'll be rewarded with some great views of Akita.

There's not a lot to this castle, but the view at the top at was rather pleasant since it is situated on a hill. Go if you enjoy high vantage points and like strolling in parks.

It is located in the end corner of Senshu Park. Only cost ¥100 to enter. Osumi-Yagura means a lookout, guardhouse and warehouse built at every corner of the bailey. On display are some history events and a model of Akita city (I guess coz everything...More

It was a little colder when we were here but we enjoyed walking around the park and castle grounds. It is not the most spectacular castle in Japan but it is definitely worth the visit. The view from the top is worth the small fee...More

This place was right near my hotel and i spent a few mornings jogging all around the trails. It's very clean, coordinated, with good views of Akita from the higher elevations.
