We had book a cruise of the lake, but unfortunately snow decided to fall in that moment, so the cruise is really pointless, as you can't see anything outside the boat! But I'm sure in good weather conditions it would be lovely!

Towadako, a caldera lake that feeds the Oriase stream. Both are famous and crowded during the autumn season. During autumn, the mountains burst with all shades of red, pink, yellow, brown and green. Visited in October, right at the peak time for momiji viewing. The colors were beautiful, and so vibrant! I have never seen leaves so bright. It was perfect weather with the tiniest chill in the air. We sent a night in this truly lovely area. One of the most beautiful spots I have seen in Japan. It reminded me of the lakes in the South Island of New Zealand and that is saying something, as NZ has some of the best scenery in the world!
