Apart from historical significance, this is a great area to relax. .take in nature and get some exercise if wanted. Especially moved by the statue / memorial to "fathers of Tokushima"..

From the castle is not much left but its really nice to see how easy going the true Japanese life style is. you can easily feel like 200 years ago walking here

Although Tokushima is surrounded by many hills (OK, not surrounded, since it is a port) the Ruins of Tokushima Castle (hey TripAdvisor- if a human actually reads these before posting, someone might want to correct "Catsle" to "Castle") is the only on-building that allows you to get higher than pedestrian crossing bridges, so if you want to climb anywhere, and... More

The beautiful stone walls and part of the moat are all that's left but that's enough. Especially when the cherry trees are blooming. You can also climb the hill - by dirt path or steps - and have a nice view of the city and enjoy the cherry trees in bloom at the top.
