鏡川そい散策の際に立ち寄りました。

鏡川そい散策の際に立ち寄りました。高知の街を流れる鏡川は洪水が多かったようで、堤防を作り管理していたそうです。そのことを今に伝える石碑が残っていました。

上町の境川ぞいに標柱あり

上町1丁目の境川ぞいの土手に石柱が残っています。鏡川流域の洪水による災害を防ぐために、受け持ち区域の境界を示す標識と説明板にあります。上町2丁目と5丁目にも残っているとのことです。

龍馬の生まれた街から日野根道場跡に向かう途中の鏡川の堤防にこれを示す石柱がありました。高知は昔から洪水の災害が多いところ。それを防ぐための受け持ちの区域の境界を示すものだそうです。

境川の旧堤防の上に石碑があります

境川北側にある上町の旧堤防に水丁場の石碑があります。昔はこの堤防を12の組に分割して管理していたようですが、今では石碑が3つ残っているだけだそうです。写真の石碑は片側が第六、裏側が第四丁場を示しており、第五丁場はなかったということになります。
数年前の大雨でも境川のこの辺りは氾濫しなかったようですが、川幅が広いにも関わらず、北側に高知城や上士の住まいを控えて堤防の管理には注意がはらわれていたようです。

ここに日根野道場跡の案内板があった

先程の日根野道場跡から南へ上がった疎水沿いに水丁場石碑があると土佐っぽ地図にあり、やってきたが、ここ日根野道場跡の案内板もあった。もしこの案内板が正しいのであれば、日根野道場とは相当でかい道場となる。
