About
Fukushu En Park was built as the tenth anniversary of our friendship with Fuzhou City of China and the seventieth anniversary commemorative project of Naha municipal city government. It was completed in September 1992 and is 8,500 square meters in area. It represents the great trade era of Ryukyu and its Chinese architectural style has enormous impact on the Okinawan culture. Uizan,Uzan,Hakuto,Binko imaging Fuzhou's seenic beauties are placed in the park. The pond, the artificial hill, waterfall, plantings and sculptures that feature the magnificent nature often make visitors forget the location of Fukushu En Park-the heart of Naha.

As I walked down the street from the Yui Rail prefectural office towards Naminoue Shrine, I saw Matsuyama Park on my right. Across from Matsuyama Park was a long wall, which was actually the wall of Fukushuen Garden. A little further along the wall there was a gate, which was the entrance to Fukushuen.
This Fuzhouen garden, which was created as a proof of the friendship between Fuzhou City in China's Fujian Province and Naha City, is a beautiful garden called the Fuzhou style. Although the park is not very large, there is a pond and various Chinese-style buildings and towers. There was also a promenade that went around the park, and there were many beautiful places to take photos. It's a much nicer Fuzhou style garden than I expected.

Admission is 200 yen. You can enter the garden from either inside or outside. There is a cafe attached to the garden, and if you enter the cafe, you can visit the garden for free. There are beautiful stone towers and waterfalls, so you can enjoy a Chinese garden.

After paying the entry fee of ¥200, we walked the round trip way. Sadly most parts of the garden were under construction which we didn’t realize until we were inside. The autumn/winter part was pretty though. The toilets are clean and free. It was quite empty for a Saturday. We’re looking forward to going again once the construction is done and all four parts of the garden are available.

I am not big on gardening but did enjoy a short visit wandering the tranquil gardens. Most plants are named in English. Close to downtown. 200 Y entry.

For 200 yen adults you can be a in a garden with chinese influence.
It wasn’t crowded, so it was very quiet and peaceful.
Near Kokusai Dori

We visited here with family. This is a top quality garden that is definitely worth a couple of hours to visit. The restaurant within the gardens is authentic Japanese, the food was GREAT, it was clean and service was superb. Restaurant is also accessible without entering the park.

Really nice garden in the heart of Naha! It's not as big as fancy as some of the world class gardens in Kyoto, but for Okinawa it's quite good!!
It's cheap (200 yen, or less if you have a monorail 1-2 day pass), nice water features & plants, exceptionally exquisite stone sculptures (including 4 huge dragon pillars), and you can feed the fish and turtles for only 100 yen!
If you are nearby, it's definitely worth a visit (it's quite close to kokusai dori, the ferry terminal, bus terminal, and a couple monorail stations).
We spent about an hour slowly walking through but if you're going fast it could take as short as 20-30 minutes.

Was very tranquil and serene..Not a lot of tourists there. Saw brief video where found out that some of the parts to construct the garden were imported from Okinawa's sister city in China. Saw waterfalls, different fruit trees, Chinese architecture, and paths that seemed to go in a circle..Recommend see this in the morning before it gets too hot on the island

I've been to many gardens and parks around the world from Butchart Gardens BC, Thai Royal Gardens, Madrid Royal gardens and so on...this small garden hidden away in Naha was one of the most unique and enjoyable ones I've been too. With schools of hungry Koi, a waterfall, hidden passages, ancient stone towers, and superb landscaping, what more could you ask for in the city? If you have the time, it's definitely worth a visit and some time for photos. Bring some 100yen coins to buy fish food, don't forget to feed the turtles too!! Also there is a neat stone bridge with some stone figures, 12 to be exact...see if you can figure out what the bridge represents! For a free public garden, this is truly a great hidden gem and thoroughly worth a bit of time to explore.

Comfortably nestled among the hustle and bustle of Naha is the beautiful Fukushu-en Garden. The moment you enter the front gates you feel as though you are being transported to Fukusyu City. The architecture, which is the same used in Fukusyu City, as well as the stones and wood were all brought directly over from China to build this garden as a symbol of the relationship between Fukusyu and Naha. Stroll through the fragrant flowers, waterfalls and along the ponds that make up this beautiful garden for a day of relaxation and fun.
For those who are planning to visit as a way to escape the fast pace of the city it is important to note that Fukushu-en Garden is a popular stop for tour groups. This is especially the case during the summer months. This can make visiting this garden less relaxing and more like being at a theme park.

Is this more like for adults and families with young children? I think my 11 year old boy will be bored out of his mind. Has anyone taken your teenager and they actually enjoyed?
