At the opposite side of the street of the Monkey park you find the aquarium. This place is great to visit, especially when you are around Beppu or Oita on a rainy day. The aquarium is a nice and diverse collection of animals. The aquaria are nice and they play relaxing music. The downpart for me of the aquarium though... More

This was a nice aquarium, very popular with small children. There's an area where children can play and pet some animals like giant rabbits and tortoises, a dolphin show and some very good underwater windows into the tanks.

The fish here [sharks included] were of a variety that i have not seen in other places. The dolphin/porpoise show was nice and also amazing. The tank inside with all the fish and other sea life kept me watching for over an hour.

I'm not a person who enjoy watching animal living in a box of glass. Would prefer takasakiyama instead of this one. the dolphin place was too small for them I think. the sea mammals place was also too small for them. but they took care the temperature, humidity and they tried their best to make the animals happy I guess.

I really don't like seeing dolphins in small pools, and ditto for the walruses. The seals had a little more but the Caspian seal was a single individual with just a few items to "enrich" its rather plain small room. But the aquaria were very beautiful and impressive, especially with the big rays.

I love watching water shows in other countries. The walrus show was cute. There was a little boy who was too shy to play peek-a-boo with the walrus trio. His mom did it and all 3 fell backwards in shock. I have the best photos of jumping dolphins ever. I stood at the rail of the top observation deck. I... More

The aquarium is compact but has a lot of fun. Many types of fishes including sharks are swirled around the water tank. Food feeding to fish is demonstrated and I learned sharks are very cautious to bite the squid fed. Demonstration of sea lion and dolphins is also well organized. Kids can play on a sort of sand beach. It's... More

We thought that the price was a bit steep at first, but it is well worth it. Fantastic collection of all sorts of fish, from common ones to others with surprising shapes. Seeing dolphins, seals and other large mammals swim in circles was sad sight for me though, which is why I can't give that place 5 points. If you... More

This disgusting place is directly involved with the removal of young dolphins from the wild that have seen their families slaughtered in front of them. Avoid. One day hopefully closed forever.

We visited the aquarium on a weekday, and bought the combined ticket for aquarium and Monkey Park across the aquarium. It was a quiet weekday, so it was not crowded. The animal performance shows were very enjoyable, even though it was in Japanese. We could touch, shake hands, and take pictures with the walruses. The dolphin show was great, and... More
