While I didn't visit the museum it was the only way to post some photos of Sasebo. It's a pretty place with parks and gardens. It's also home for a large US base for the 7th Fleet.

We went there in December 9th 2015, it was empty. I would recommend this place for those that loves history. This place is near Sasebo Yonkacho- the Sasebo arcade. Entry is free. If you know Japanese, it might be more useful as the instructional videos played in the museum are made in Japanese.

We first visited this museum on a city bus tour offered at the Sasebo train station. It was interesting enough for a return trip where we could take more time looking at the exhibit. This museum was very good! The staff working at the time I went did not speak English, (I don't ever expect them to since it is Japan after all) but they do provide you with an English walk through handout that coordinates with numbers next to the exhibits. That way you can look up what everything is and get a... More
