Onino Sentakuita (The Devil's washboard) is a place you must see. When I first saw them, I though it is men-made. The nature is amazing.

the entire aoshima island is surround by these rock deposits/formations. if an aerial shot is taken, it would look really amazing! we caught the sunset and sunrise here. it's definitely worth waking up early for! best visited in low tide.

'The Devil's Washboard' is an allusion to the time when washing involved scrubbing and was a hard, labour-intensive, hands-on, time consuming task on a corrugated glass, tin or wooden device. (History lesson out of the way.) The foreshore for kilometres around this part of the...More

The most unusual and natural rock formations bordering the walk to the Aoshima shine on Aoshima Island. Called the Devils Washboard the formations can be viewed up close. A most unique and very photogenic site well worth a visit.

Such a beautiful, unique coastline in Miyazaki. I wonder how the surfers manage to avoid "the devil's washboard." It's definitely something to see.

A unique scene all around the coastline near Aoshima Island and Miyazaki! The Onino Sentakuita or "Ogres Washboard" gets it name from how the rock formations appear. I have never seen anything like it and I've been to all corners of the Earth. A very...More

First time to see this kind of trace in the ocean. Very interesting and curious place. I think if there is any explanation of this place on the spot, it would be great.

This is one of the famous places for sight seeing. It is a natural scene of rocks shaped like a washing plank. It is said to be formed as a result of vocanic activity.

I wasn’t on a cruise boat. I used JR railways in Japan after arriving by air at Tokyo. As far as going to this location from Miyazaki I traveled by Bus ride with ticket purchased at JR Miyazaki Station.
