This place appears to have been built in the 1970's. It was "high end" back then. Not much seems to have changed since then. Mold, mildew, rusty metal that needs painting, sheetrock tape coming off, holes in sheetrock, everything in extremely bad need of paint, all fixtures are very dated, disrepair of cabinet doors, everything... Again, the staff makes up for a great deal, but, it still is what it is. Beautiful location. We would have loved to see it 30 years ago. Rooms are spacious, more than one toilet, a great mix of western and Japanese design. Just OLD and WORN OUT... They have some arrangement with the Sheraton Grand Hotel that is about 2 miles away. It is not much of an arrangement. Sheraton is way over priced and dated as well. If you only speak english, you will find it difficult to function here. This is a Japanese resort area. Very few americans come here. Again, beautiful location, but, it would take hundreds of millions of yen to get this property back into an up to a current desirable location. Staff is outstand, I must stress again. They just have nothing much to work with.

There is a lot to do as far as outdoor activities are concerned. There is a Nordic walking course, frisbee golf and other things you can do.

The Phoenix lookout looked to be one of the best spot for photos, in particular beautiful sunny days. Wash board shape stone lines were impressive. One of Nature's wonders.

Thank you very much for your stay with us at Sheraton Grande Ocean Resort and thank you for giving us your heartfelt feedback. The coast line sweeping away north and south and the acervate beautiful pine trees along with the shore, the ocean in deep blue and the bright blue sky are the ones of sources of pride for us, which we believe an environment making travelers relax and soothe. Our prefecture Miyazaki is also well known for many historical and mythical areas. Besides the wash board shape stone lines you had seen, there are many mystic spots to sightsee. If you have any chance to come and visit Miyazaki in future again, we are very pleased to guide you yet beautiful spots you will be able to enjoy. We hope to be of service to you in your future stay.

Former site of APEC meeting. Nice hotel with huge rooms. Friendly staffs though with limited English. Time for a proper refurbishment as hotel looks dated. Very nice onsen facility. But location is fairly far from central Miyazaki town, average around Yen2500 one-way.

Thank you very much for having you stay and I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart. We are very happy that you were satisfied with our service and facilities. Although our hotel may be fairly far from central Miyazaki town, our hotel offers the wonderful ocean view from a guest room with quiet environment and the beautiful view of the spreading pine grove. Since there are also various activities in the Phoenix Seagaia Resort, so we think you will enjoy it. Thank you for the feedback and we look forward to serving you again. Sincerely yours,

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. The hotel was very family friendly, as they have connecting rooms, which are connected by the front door. My father-in-law had a great opportunity to play golf with his grandson.
The buffet dinner at Pine Terrace was very nice as they had a vast variety of food from Asian to Hawaiian. (The theme at that time was Hawaian food!). They have an enjoyable kids programms for the children. The pool was very suitable for the young aged.
We enjoyed playing at their bowling alley.
