Using the city trams were incredibly easy. We bought day passes and made good use of them to visit many sights as well as restaurants in the evening.

I was worried about using the public transportation because I did not speak any Japanese and everything was written in Japanese. With Google Maps, navigating the city was a breeze. Very cheap and organized - get in from the middle of the bus and exit...More

The tram is easy to use and will get you close to most important points of interest in Kumamoto. Cheaper than taxi and easier to use than bus.

Not so many cities in Japan have Tram as their transportation, so many of them who came to Kumamoto want to try Tram. Some of the trams were very old but somehow people like to try the old Tram and I think the government knows...More

I love trams and always try to use them in preference to buses but this time the driver was not so helpful. 2 tourists did not know about the coin changing machine and so gave the driver 200 yen whereby he did not explain how...More

The tram system though simple is sufficient for the city. They offer a 1-day tram pass for ¥500 for unlimited travel within a day which is very convenient and tourist-friendly.

Wife and I took the tram more than the bus in Kumamoto. Was quick and easy getting around, but we did get lost once taking it the wrong direction ; if that happens just get off and head in the opposite direction on the same...More

Public transport is good if you know what you are doing. Luckly my wife is japanese so she puts me on the right bus, otherwise I wouldn't know what to do. I could not find any english information. Price is good and easy to work...More

We loved using the trams during our stat in Kumamoto. Really easy to use. the payment system on trams is easy as well. Local people are very helpful.
