Mr Schingo was recommended by a friend who used his service to Takachiho Gorge and Mount Aso in 2024.
Communication with him over Whatsapp was easy and he gave us a tip to book the boat ride at Takachiho Gorge in advance. This turned out to be a great piece of advice as the queue time for the boat ride without booking was 3.5 to 4 hours on the day of our visit.
Schingo's command of English was good and he gave good information on not just the places we were visiting but also Japan in general. He was also a very careful and safe driver
After finding out that one of us had a throat irritation, he gave him a bottle of honey given by his friend to sooth his throat.
While Schingo charges a premium for his service, it is still worthwhile.

My tour with Schingo was a fantastic investment. It offered a comprehensive exploration of Kumamoto, along with the rare opportunity to see the One Piece Statues and an active volcano, making every penny worth it.
Moreover, the tour provides a fascinating insight into the historical and entertaining facts about the areas surrounding the One Piece Statues, enriching your travel experience.
For any One Piece fan, a visit to the statues is a must. Not only do you get to see breathtaking scenery, but you also contribute to the recovery of local areas affected by the earthquake.

This private tour was a fantastic experience and worth the price paid for it! Not only was Schingo an excellent guide with his knowledge of the area but just great to talk to in general! Being able to see all of the One Piece statues within one day was already a major selling point that put this tour above others but as an extra bonus we stopped off at some great site seeing points around the region - including one of the active craters of Mt. Aso!
I highly recommend this tour for both One Piece fans and people looking to explore the Kumamoto region alike!

Schingo was an excellent guide. He was very knowledgeable about Kumamoto, history, anime, and Rock! At first, I thought it would be a long day but the day went by so quickly with the entertaining conversation and his wealth of knowledge and experiences. It was very touching to hear the explanations of why the statues were placed in each specific location.
Schingo is very approachable and amiable. My usually shy son, the OnePiece fan, was particularly pleased to have engaging conversations with Schingo about OnePiece and anime in general.
The countryside of Kumamoto is beautiful and although we were not able to see much at the very top of Mt. Aso because of the weather (it was snowing), the scenery was still beautiful--clouds hovering over mountaintops, fields dusted with snow...
Should we return to Kumamoto, we would love for Schingo to be our guide again but this time to visit and learn more about Kumamoto and Kyushu.

My hubby and I booked the Kumamoto One Piece statue tour and we cannot recommend highly enough! The entire day was highly enjoyable and very educational. We saw all 10 statues, collected all 10 figurines and even got to check out Mt Aso.
Schingo was an absolutely amazing guide- again, HIGHLY recommend!

Schingo was an excellent guide and driver. He took us to Takachiho Gorge and Mt. Aso. The views were amazing and he made the day so much fun and educational too. He taught us a lot about the things we were seeing and also Japanese history, culture and language. He also took great photos and videos to remember our day with. This day tour was a great value and I would not hesitate to use his services again or to recommend to someone else. He is the guide you're looking for in Kumamoto Prefecture!

We had a SUPERRRRR great time with Schingo. We had the One Piece Statues Tour with him on 1/10/25, and it was our favorite part of our Japan trip! Being One Piece fans, this was a huge bucket list for us so we were stoked to see hit up all the statues. During the tour, Schingo let us know it was an opportune time to ride the Sunny-Go Train and even told us the best seats to get the best view on the train. He's so incredibly detailed and thoughtful. Being a Kumamoto native, he was also very knowledgeable - for each location of the statues, he told us the history and rationale for why certain Straw Hats were at the location they were in. We learned so much about the impact of the devastating earthquake of course. It made us feel the strength and the resilience of the prefecture.
In addition, Schingo is a very safe driver. It was very comfortable and pleasant getting to all the places. These statues are actually soooo far apart, but he knew the route like it was the back of his hand because he didn't even need to use the GPS. His English is also very fluent so there were no worries at all with communication.
Overall, it was just such a memorable time. My husband and I would totally do this again or reach back out to Schingo to do his other tours. Really loved it so much, we can't recommend it enough!!!

My wife and I are visiting Japan for the first time, and one of our destinations is the One Piece statues located in Kumamoto. We've been huge One Piece fans, and our tour guide, Mr. Schingo, is a godsend. Spending the whole day with Schingo was one of the best highlights of our stay. You will learn about the history of Kumamoto and the One Piece statues. Schingo was very kind and down-to-earth. We exchanged and compared our cultures and differences. We're from America, and I wish tourists would be more respectful of Japanese culture when visiting. Schingo's knowledge is very impressive, and we learned so much from him in just one day. Throughout the tour, you'll learn the reasons why the statues are placed in their locations, why they were built, and why they are important. We also made a quick stop at Mt. Aso, and it was a spectacular volcano! We definitely recommend Schingo if you're thinking of going to Kumamoto. You don't need to be a One Piece fan, but it's better if you are! Thank you, Mr. Schingo, for the wonderful experience!!!

We contacted Schingo for a private tour by WhatsApp, he took us to the Takachiho Gorge and Mount Aso. He is a very available and very patient guide, thanks to him we were able to see the active crater of Mount Aso he did not count his time while waiting for the access conditions to be good. He surprised us by booking the Nagashi Somen restaurant, which I recommend. Our son, who is passionate about Japanese anime, enjoyed chatting with Schingo, he suggested that we make a few detours to see the One Piece statues. He gave us an unforgettable day, one of the best on our 3 trips to Japan. Thank you Schingo

Hi is it possible to organize a private tour for 3 people to view Mount Aso and Takachiho Gorge? We will be coming from Kurokawa but at the end of tour we need to be in kurokawa. Do advise.

I signed up for a tour in December. Shingo picked me up in Kuromoto and dropped me off at a train station in Aso that took me back to Kuromoto. I joined two people from Singapore on the trip. He took us to Takachiho Gorge first, then we had a nice Japanese lunch on our way to the top of Mt. Aso. I arranged this by going to his website and saw that the trip had been scheduled and was able to add myself to the tour. He may do private tours, but you would have to contact him about that. I am now a face-book friend with him and saw he was just getting over a case of food poisoning, so he may not be well enough to answer quickly. I suggest continuing to email him. It was a great tour and he was a delightful guide. It was the best way to see both attraction in 1 day, since there is no high speed rail service to those areas.
