Everyone was so excited when SL Hitoyoshi was approaching the station. Busy in filming and taking pictures of the steam train which only ran on weekends and some special days. Along with the great scenery, there were two cars driving side-by side with a railway line towards Yatsushiro, waving mascot: Kumamon and Funassyi. I guess those cars were sent by... More

Excellent experience and we enjoyed the ride very much, especially we seldom have a chance to take a ride on a steam train nowadays. Don’t forget to try the bento & snacks on the train or at Hitoyoshi station, stamp the card, apart from taking photos for the beautiful scenery, on the train or at each station.

The carriages are comfortable... More

Many people take all three train for the day trip to Kumamoto (and vice versa). Train is a beautiful renovation and restoration. Good fun and good value trip: plenty of chances to get out and take photos, friendly (though limited... More

I really didn't know what I was in for when I was handed a ticket that said "SL Hitoyoshi." A really fun experience, from the train buffs with three cameras each to the staff who spent a lot of time photographing all of the cute kids. The short stops allowed everyone hop off and take as many pictures as time... More
