First time to ride an old-fashioned ferry in a car, extremely comfortable and convenient if you are driving your own vehicle. Drive directly into the ferry, parked as directed, and walked out to feel the wind and sunshine. But remember, just 15 minutes and there isn't enough time for you to run to different levels to see different views. Simply... More

It was my first time taking a ferry that could house so many vehicles. The view of the volcano approaching while standing on the top deck of the ferry was also amazing.

Sakurajima Ferry is in operation for 24 hours a day. Thinking of Tokyo Metro, which ends their service around 1 A.M, it is amazing. The travel from Kagoshima Terminal to Sakurajima is very pleasant, but it seems to be too short. I would rather stay longer aboard.

Ferries very convenient - leave every 15 minutes. Suggest you time travel to meet the 1-hour tour bus that takes you to various volcano viewing points. Also, make sure you get a seat at the front of the ferry (either on deck or indoor) for a magnificent panorama as you approach the island. You could be lucky to experience the... More

Ferry to Mt.sakurajima leaves frequently and on time. I took the early one in time to catch sunrise above the Mt. The views of the city and volcano are magnificent. The service is efficient and the fare is reasonable.

Very frequent service and good ferry. It provides excellent views on the city and on the volacno. Quite cheap.

A 20 minute ride from Kagoshima, necessary if you want to visit Sakurajima volcano. Efficient, clean well maintained.

I took the ferry to visit Mt. Sakurajima. It is a ferry for both cars and passengers. Passengers have to be up on the 3rd deck while the cars are on the 2nd. It is a really pleasant ride of just 15 minutes. As a matter of fact, I wish it could be longer!

We took our car by this ferry to Sakura Jima to drive around the island. I think it cost something like $30 each way. The trip is only about 15 minutes so many drivers don't even get out of their cars. There is a snack bar on deck which was serving hot noodles. Judging by the aroma and the happy... More

I went across twice, once just for a break! It is quick, and great value. 160YEN. Good range of things to eat...ice-cream was good!
