I took the tourist bus to the lookout, a day ticket only costs 500 Yen and you can get on & off the bus at any stop you choose.

We took a rental car to get here, and that is the way I recommend to get around on Sakurajima because the public transportation doesn't seem very effective. From the top of the viewing area, you can see a good view of the volcano and also have a nice view of the sea.

We took a public bus to this lookout-- about twenty minutes to get there. Unfortunately, the buses don't run that frequently. We recommend renting your own car, or hiring a driver. Otherwise, the observatory offers a nice view of the volcano, as well as scenic lookouts of the ocean and countryside. Wonderful venue for some scenic pictures.

You can see the volcano cloud. You can see the sea and Kaimondake(mountain at Ibusuki city) far away. Take a bus to get there.
