Perhaps we went there at the bad time. There were Chinese tourists everywhere. They were very noisy and annoying. Because of them, we just stayed there for about 5 minutes and then left. Moreover, I don't think the view from the view spot is very...More

From Kagoshima you can take a ferry across the bay to get a close view of Mt Shiroyama. The mountain makes a wonderful backdrop to Kagoshima. There is often a little smoke coming from the top of this volcano.

You can walk to the top of Shiroyama instead of taking a bus. It takes 30 - 40 minutes, but it depends, of course, on how fast you walk. It is a good hiking course.

Nice view and easy access by city bus. A footpath allows to walk down to the city. Worth a stop on the way to the gardens.
