In my opinion, it is not really interesting, unless you have a particular interest in geology. I would rather to soak my feet in foot bath, which is located near the visitor center.

If you have a couple of hours on Sakura Island, this is a must. Why? It's free and it's relaxing and it's facing the sea! What more could you ask for? Visit this promenade with free foot bath and there is a tourist center close by where you can spend at least a few minutes understanding more about the volcano.

This is one of the best walks I've done in my life. There are not many other people on this trail, so you can enjoy nature in peace. The solidified lava is something to see. Let's not forget to mention the amazing foot onsen at the entrance of the trail.

The promenade gave a good view of Sakurajima Volcano. You could also explored the different shapes of the volcanic rocks and unique floras along the pathway.

On exit from the ferry terminal turn right and walk along the sidewalk until you come to a large building - that's a hotel. Keep walking until you see the visitors centre. Inside is a very good geological display of volcanos and description of the eruptions of Sakurajima. Sign the visitors book. Through the visitors centre you can find the... More

The Lava Promenade offers beautiful views of the harbour and volcano. It runs by the ocean side and is a pleasant unchallenging walk which offers a peaceful respite from the busy city. It is about 5 mins walk from the ferry terminal. There are toilets and occasional shaded rest stops - but little shade on the walk so bring water... More
