We visited here after Fukuoka Tower. This is a great little museum with plenty to see. I was truly amazed by the history displayed here dating back some 26,000 years. It took us about an hour and a half but that was mainly because there was not a lot of signage in English. There was enough though to get the... More

The museum is a lovely place to relax and stroll through the exhibits. We wished for more English translations describing the items but there's enough to get the general idea.

Nice museum that is a short walk from the Fukuoka Tower. Covers the history of Fukuoka with many artifacts from excavations in the city. It covers from the first known history of Fukuoka till today. Very interesting and not too expensive.

We happened upon this museum by chance while walking around the area. The entry cost was minimal and the displays and history of Fukuoka were very informative inside the easy to navigate museum with sufficient English posted. The museum staff were very polite and courteous and our experience allowed us to escape some oppressive outdoor heat for nearly two hours... More

The permanent exhibition only costs 200 yen to go in, which is a bargain! You can find out history of Fukuoka and they showed a lot of things from the China to armour and the famous gold seal, good place to find out the details.

The museum provided a good insight into Fukuoka. Only 1 main exhibition hall worth seeing. The other hall had everything in Japanese so it was more of a viewing gallery. Unfortunately there's no near by subway.

There is an excellent historical timeline display with artefacts and information on how Fukuoka was settled and the influences on the city's development through trade. English subtitles are there. Well presented and some really amazing historical items. Gave me a great appreciation of how the city has evovled. Glad I saw it early in my stay. There is also a... More

This museum is gorgeous. There are many things with English translations. There were more than needed more information in English but it is well worth a visit, especially in inclement weather
