As someone with limited Japanese skills, I was happy with the English directions and information available. I could easily find my way around. I enjoyed my visit overall, but I do wonder if all animals had enough shade and space. However, I must admit I...More

The zoo is set amongst the hillsides of Fukuoka, creating a lush and leafy atmosphere, making it feel very natural and authentic. It is divided into five areas, each representing one continent, and it features about 700 animals with a total of 160 species, including...More

I only wanted to go to the botanical garden, since I am not a big fan of the zoo. But, the ticket of 600 yen included the botanical garden and the zoo, you can not only visit one. So, I went to the beautiful botanical...More

In my eyes, a must while you're here. Low-cost ticket included so much. Plan to spend a few hours here. Would recommend taking the bus to get here, as it's quite far from any train station.

It's such a clean zoo with the most wonderful kinds of animals. You can see how well fed the animals are and how nice the kind of home the zoo had put the animals in.

Fukuoka City Zoo is under reconstruction - the present view is depressing because animals are kept like in the beginning of the 20th century. The adjacent Botanical Garden is much nicer and may justify the visit to the Zoo. The self-service cabin lift is another...More

To be able to travel with a young child & have the ability to have others around, this is a place to do so. Throughout the park there are many places to set down & enjoy the gardens while having a break or a snack...More

Zoological Garden and Botanical Garden are located at the same place. If you buy an entrance ticket, you can visit both facilities. I like the rose garden very much. The greenhouse is beautiful, too.

My grandkids live in Fukuoka so we took a trip to the Zoo last week. First the parking is awful. We had to park and take a taxi to the Zoo. It would be best to bring your own food as it was not great....More

A nice place to visit but be warned that it is a far walk from the nearest subway station. We found ourselves hiking over a small hill/park to reach the zoo. I didn't mind the walk in the cool December air but can imagine it...More

You can use bus or subway. I recommend the bus since it'll drop you off right at the entrance. If you use the subway, you get off at Sakurazaka station and then you have a pretty good hike up the steep hill to the zoo. There... More
