We love this place and plan to come back again.

We took our 1 year old baby here. It’s quite small but we really love it. The shows were quite good but my son is too young to appreciate it. Would come back again if we visit Fukuoka.

1st stop in Fukuoka City

Nice place to hang put and enjoy the marine life. They have shows such as dolphin and sea otter throughout the day. It is easily accessible by train from hakata station and the food sold inside is reasonably proced You wont be disappointed

Amazing!!!
Oct 2019
Not the biggest aquarium, but it is good enough with great shows, such as dolphins, sardine, penguin, finless porpoise talk shows, etc. Didn't know that sardine can be trained. I'm impressed. For Fukuoka tourist city pass holders, you can get discount for the entrance fee. Uminonakamichiche Seaside Park is just next to Marine World.

Great little aquarium in a less travelled part of Fukuoka
Oct 2019 • Couples
Cool aquarium out of the main drag of Fukuoka. Not a massive park but a diverse range of wildlife to see for everybody. Really enjoyed the open shore tank in the main area and the show stage where they interact with the dolphins for the crowds. The backdrop with the water behind the stage makes for a beautiful setting to watch the dolphins.

We did have a few reservations largely around the size of the habitats for some of the sea life I.e. the sea turtles. They seemed to be in a very small enclosure for their size and number. The same goes for the dolphins. With Japan’s cetacean history we just hoped that the animals are treated humanely and from a place of genuine care.

It is a wonderful aquarium that combines the pleasure of the effect and the goodness of the local area.

Nice for half day outing

The Marine World is small if you compare it to Disney's Sea World. But, I love the way the place is set up, with customers" experience being their top priority.
1) I love the restaurant at the ground floor with full underwater view of the show-pool as the dolphins are performing above. The show is also broadcasted on screen in the restaurant. I watched the show twice, once at the surface and once underwater.
2) I love the show where the diver gets into the main giant tank with a camera and describes (he communicates with host outside the tank) all the sea creatures hidden behind the rocks... in Japanese only, unfortunately
3) I love the shallow tank area where guests are encouraged to touch and feel the starfish. There are sinks right next to it to wash your hands, after the experience.
4) I love it that there are enough shows and feeding times to keep one occupied.

I also love people watching. Thus, I enjoyed watching 2 big groups of pre-schoolers on an educational trip. Japanese kids have so much enthusiasm and discipline!

Worth the ticket price of 2300¥ for an enjoyable half day.

Nice dolphin show, seal feeding,African penguin
Jun 2019 • Family
We went there with young children (8 and 4 years old) and very happy with this place.
Even though this place is smaller than Nagoya or Osaka aquarium, we still enjoy it so much.
The dolphin pool is just in front of the sea, provides a perfect back drop.
We also like the African penguins and how our children can feed the seal (feed cost yen 300).
We combine this trip with park visit. Morning to visit aquarium and afternoon to visit the park which is just within walking distance.
Adult cost yen 2,000. Child yen 1,000 and pre-k yen 6,000

Small yet surprising

There are a lot of aquatics animals to see. And it's worth the trip to go there, especially if you have kids and kids at heart. A 3-4 hours is enough to visit everything.

Great Fun for Family

If you are travelling with small children do drop by to Marine Park@Uminonakamichi. By bus around 1 hour, it is worth it. We are from Malaysia we don't have Marine Park so we just have to check it out.
The Architecture was amazing lots of photos to take if you are into that and the disabled friendly facilities provided around the park.
U can watch the sea lions, dolphins & whale shows which was the highlights of the trip. Although it was in Japanese..we still understood it all.
We got to see penguins & sharks at the huge Aquarium. We got to feed the sea lions which was fun for my daughter.
We had a lovely lunch at the restaurant which was located below the pool so you can see the friendly dolphins swimming. A dinosour museum was underway.
We really enjoy our day at the Marine Park@Uminonakamichi. Although the entrance fees was expensive, it was worth it.

A good day out to the Marine World despite atrocious weather
Mar 2019 • Couples
My wife and I self drive to the Marine World in Fukuoka on a rainy and windy Sunday with atrocious weather. The parking costs 520 yen. Entrance fee is 2600 yen per adult. A lot of people take public transport there. We got there around 10:30 am and the first place was to visit the sea otter, dolphin and killer whale show on the 3/F. Make sure you get there early for a good seat. The first few rows are marked orange in colour and high likelihood of being splashed during the performance. The benches are provided with bum warmers, which are touching and hear warming on a cold wet day watching an outdoor performance. The performers were acrobatic and musical. The rest of the aquarium housed all the tropical and marine sea creatures that you would expect. It was well out together and definitely worth spending 2-3 hours there.
