Only 30 minutes from Kyoto with a local train till Shiga station, where the lake, the shrine and the buddhist garden give a unique experience to the visitors. The cable car to Biwako valley is easily reachable with a bus from the station

Visited the lake around Nagahama and took a trip to Chikubu island. The cruise was great but just taking a picnic on the Biwa lake shore was just as nice, watching the sunset and listening to the waves. Peaceful and romantic!

There are old shrines and temples in the small islands in this lake. If you have enough time, visit that place.
