We looked into this establishment on a recent visit to Nara. It was very upsetting to see wild birds held in this small space in captivity with no regard for their well-being as nocturnal animals. My recommendation would be to spend your money at another cafe where this kind of exploitation is not on the menu.…

From street seems a nice way to spend an hour. I went upstairs. I did not have time for thinking about it because you have to pay if you wanna get it. Despite the girls who attended me were very nice, the cafe was very little and the tea provided is from a machine. The owls are too many and there is not enough space. It is very sad to see them. It was NOT a nice experience at all. I paid for one hour but I stayed just 15 minutes after feeling very uncomfortable being surrounded by animals that are clearly suffering....:(…

I can’t recommend this place. Please don't go inside...All the owls are tightly chained to the rack with no space to stretch their wings. the owls are continuously touched without any control, they remain the whole life attached to short ties without any possibility of movement or flight. it seems incredible to me that such a thing is not forbidden in japan.…

I went to Wata Wata today and the place was adorable, many species of owls are available to see, and the staff treats them with care. You get a free drink with your entry as well as a gift once you leave. The owner and staff were very nice to the customers, and didn't hesitate to explain everything you wanted to know about owls. You can also carry one owl on your arm, and I personally had the chance to feed 2 of them (we came at 6 PM, close the feeding time). I went to several owl cafes before but this one is definitely my favorite. If you want a break from your trip in Nara, I recommend stopping by!…

I made the mistake of coming here thinking like others that its an animal-friendly cafe like the cat cafes are, my mistake. While the staff is very kind and friendly and seem to care for the owls, I have to say that an owl cafe should not exist. Owls are not domesticated animals like cats are, and these owls are tied to one place and not allowed to fly around. A wild animal should not live like this, and the birds here are clearly not enjoying life. At least in a zoo the owls have their own places to fly around but not here. The owls should be donated to a zoo where they can receive proper care & a proper living environment.…
