This is one of the first experience that i have with relatively docile wild animal roaming around while we get to enjoy the beautiful scenery around the area. It was a pity that i went a week early and the sakura season is not in...More

(This is my personal opinion about it. I might have been unlucky and the park looks amazing during another season) The trip is about an hour from Kyoto and then a 20min walk to the actual park. If you come from Kyoto, you've probably already...More

Great spot for one day tour around. We went there from Osaka by train on the way to Kyoto. Just by turning to the right from the main entrance and walking for 5-10 minutes we could spot first deer, which are not scared of tourists...More

A beautiful park which covers a huge area. Would be great to visit when the cherry blossoms are blooming.

Lots of tourists but also lots of deer. The old temples and shrines are worth seeing and experiencing yourself, since the scale is impressive. Between the sights you can sit around the parks and feed the domesticated deer that roam around almost as high numbered...More

Nara park is adjacent to numerous cultural attractions and is the perfect place to relax. The resident deer are anxious to meet you and beg for treats (available for purchase.) Spring and Autumn are especially beautiful.

No one visiting Kyoto should miss this place. Take the train out here for an amazing walk feeding the deer and enjoying the temples. Picture perfect.

There were so many deer everywhere and feeding them was fun. The deer were really friendly, though some were a little more insistent than others and tended to try to help themselves to anything including tops and scarves and open bags. The only bit of...More

We were staying in Osaka, but it only took us 1 hour to reach there. We went there for the deers and they were literally everywhere around us. It is really fun for families and kids. We only spent about 2 hours there (it was...More

Walked from the JR train station to Nara Park and then to the Todai-ji temple to check out the large, bronze Buddha statue. The park was pleasant and the prospect of seeing a few tame deer wandering around didn't disappoint. Vendor sell 'crackers' so that...More

There is a special bus that conducts you from the bullet train station directly to Nara park entry. However even within the park it's a fair amount of walking. To see the Buddha temple too it's a walk, although the deer are... More

As the park is an open area, I don't think it could be closed. However, when darkness falls, people would start moving out & most if not all the tourist sites would begin to close for the night. I guess it would be deserted... More
